Fedora as a distro doesn't have nothing to do with such complains as they happen due a lack of proper driver implementation as some companies still refuses to support linux or because a software component is not working properly. In both cases Fedora doesn't directly develop the drivers or the components that doesn't work and you should get your complain to the upstream projects so they can fix it sometime or fill a bug report to Fedora so they can report upstream and apply patches as the come in.
WH: Huh? proprietary stuff?? No idea what you are talking about unless you mean the hardware.

WH: I'm running RHEL which is more stable. But I like to do other work on Fedora and was hoping Fedora 10 was more stable. I realize there are a lot of different hardware platforms out there and it is difficult to support. I'm a bit surpprised because there are so many Lenova T6x around I thought that it would have been tested more and there more stable.
TBW this seemed to get worse the last few weeks so I wonder if some of my updates made the issue much more frequent.

Unable to switch to wireless
by Geoffrey Leach
ASUS Z84F, wireless built-in. Normally I connect to my Netgear router
via ethernet. Nm-applet (Fedora 10) reports wireless connection.
Problem: if I unplug the ethernet connection, the system does not
switch to wireless. If I re-boot with the ethernet unplugged,
wireless works fine, and if I re-plug the ethernet connection, it
switches over correctly. And back to wireless, etc.
Behavior is lost when I suspend or hibernate.
Any suggestions? (It's not a BIOS issue.)

Need some tips.
Came across this on Irish Linux User Group.
I'm not a Mac user and don't know how to help this guy.

I gave him the link to this list.

IBM parts suggestions?
by Leam Hall
I have an aging IBM thinkpad T30, type 2366-21U. Keep getting "fan
errors" and it's starting to sound like a prop plane even after I blow
out the dust. Any recommendations on places to get parts?
Thanks!

Q: which package contains laptop mode tools?
by Ansgar Konermann
Hello :-)
I accidentally erased /etc/laptop-mode. Can I get it back by
re-installing a certain package? If so, which one would that be? If not,
what other options do I have?
Want the whole story?
Being confused by a number of forum posts out on the internet, I dared
to install laptop-mode-tools-x.y.rpm from the laptop mode tools'
homepage. After installation, I noticed that FC 10 obviously has laptop
mode tools already integrated - there was a folder /etc/laptop-mode with
timestamps of "some time ago". One fresh subfolder
/etc/laptop-mode/conf.d had a timestamp some seconds ago, this obviously
had been created by installation of the RPM from the LM tools homepage.
Silly me simply uninstalled the LM RPM. With it, the whole folder
/etc/laptop-mode went to nirvana(tm)... :-(

Brightness keys not working anymore
by Georgi Hristozov
Hi,
I've just upgraded do Rawhide (32 bit) on my Toshiba Satellite A200.
Everything seems to be ok, except the brightness keys, which don't work
anymore. The other Fn keys are ok, I'm having problems only with Fn-F6
and Fn-F7. Tested them with xev and can't see any event when pressing
them. I can't find any keyboard shortcut to do this from the Gnome options.
Any ideas how to fix this? I hope that writing shell scripts to
manipulate /proc/acpi won't be needed :) Thanks in advance!
