Problem with POSTFIX users
by CHAT KHODA
Dear friends,
I have a Postfix mail server machone(FC4),I wonder to
know what is your opinion about this problem:
As you know we have several types of lookup tables to
faciliate offering service for several domains on one
mail server machine. But I would like to know "Can we
have two users with the same name in this
configuration?".
I asked this due to the fact that , I have noticed
that all of the mthods in postfix docs suggest using
Unix accounts finally and using aliases and other
tricks will not get rid us of this dependency(will
they?).
To sum up,
May I have 2 users on a postfix mail server :
sales(a)natix.info
sales(a)julix.com
n the case of positive answer please let me know more.
Sincerely,

selinux again, and x forwarding
by Walter Petrel
I just solved one selinux problem only to find another.
The old problem: httpd wouldn't serve up userdir files after upgrading to FC 4 with selinux. Changing the httpd config and the context of the user directories didn't help. The solution, provided here, was to relabel.
The new problem: X forwarding no longer works. This machine is not tied into our system's NIS system, never has been, but X forwarding always worked before. I don't know if the problem could be there. The ssh and X configs are the default for FC 4. The machines I'm connecting to are mostly RH machines -- like v 3.x. The message I get on the terminal is about not being able to open the display.
I've tried ssh -X and ssh -Y. And ForwardX11Trusted is set, but ForwardX11 is not, both in /etc/ssh/ssh_config
One complication: prior to rebooting, I upgraded the system. This was on Monday, so it included the kernel upgrade.
Thanks.

Can't install mysql on fedora Core3
by Jeff McKeon
Hey all,
Trying to upgrade MySQL from 3.23 to 4.0.16 on a new fedora core3
system.
I keep getting the following when I run the servers-standard rpm...
Preparing...
###########################################[100%]
1:MySQL-server-standard
###########################################[100%]
050901 17:33:34 [ERROR] Can't create interrupt-thread (error 13,
errno:13)
Installation of system tables failed!
Examine the logs in /var/lib/mysql for more information.
You can also try to start the mysqld daemon with: /usr/sbin/mysqld
--skip-grant &
You can use the command line tool /usr/bin/mysql to connect to the mysql
database and look at the grant tables:
shell> /usr/bin/mysql -u root mysql
mysql> show tables
Try 'mysqld --help' if you have problems with paths. Using --log gives
you a log in /var/lib/mysql that may be helpful.
The latest information about MySQL is available on the web at
http://www.mysql.com Please consult the MySQL manual section: 'Problems
running mysql_install_db', and the manual section that describes
problems on your OS. Another information source is the MySQL email
archive. Please check all of the above before mailing us! And if you do
mail us, you MUST use the /usr/bin/mysqlbug script! Starting
MySQL...................................[FAILED]
Anyone have this problem and know how to fix it???
Thanks!

What do you mean with spareserver? Is it an server which can be offline every
minute because you need it forsomething else (f.e. another server fails), or
will it always be available, so no spare server anymore?

iPod
by Craig White
2 issues (probably related)
I can't modprobe -r sbp2 - I get error, device is busy even though
unmounted
Mounts as root but gtkpod wants to run as user and not root
I can't make heads or tails out of what I should do...is it an entry
into
/usr/share/hal/fdi/95userpolicy ?
what should it be?
fstab has entry for ipod to mount at /media/NAME_of_my_IPOD
but that is for sda2 which now is skipped over and shows up as sdb2
which I can mount (as root) and see files and stuff but I need a cleaner
solution.
anyone?

I have stumbled upon a few MSKB articles in my Googling about this
problem but nothing that was terribly helpful.
There is no doubt that there is nothing but junk inside the newly
created second partition but, AKAIK, w2k shouldn't be looking inside
there at al and it would interpret a valid ext3fs as junk too.
I took a look at the partition information with a hex editor last night
with reference to this website:
http://www.ata-atapi.com/hiwtab.htm
The partition table looked clean in that there was no extra junk
floating around and the partitions were clearly defined. Adding of the
second partition information did not affect the first partition info at all.
However, the fields annoted as: "Starting/Ending CHS in INT 13 call
format" seemed to max out such that the first partition started at 01 01
00 as it should and ended at FE FF FF. The second partition both started
and ended at FE FF FF. Now I suspect that Linux just ignores these
values and uses the LBA ones later on in the record (which were sane)
but w2k might be having a bit of trauma over this. According to
everything I have read, it shouldn't have any problems with big
partitions like this though.
Still looking for ways to get w2k over its psychological barrier ...
