Yum.conf, Fedoracore2
by Bruce Hyatt
I screwed up my yum.conf file and I can't get it back.
I don't remember the whole process, how it happened but right now I am using the file from the link found on the fedorafaq.org page and "yum update" is returning "ConfigParser.MissingSectionHeaderError: File contains no section headers."
Where can i find a yum.conf file that will work for installing and updating packages?
I'm running fedoracore2 with a 2.6 kernel.
Thanks,
Bruce

Interesting... I don't have a "Wave" or "Wave Surround" option.

I have tried enabling everything but the only option that gave my any noticable difference in sound was when I enabled "analog Mix". I could discern a slightly louder background noise.

I went there and tried all possible combinations - no difference.

Video card for dual-head 1920x1200?
by Msquared
Hi, guys!
I'm looking for a video card that supports two 1920x1200 monitors using
open-source drivers under Xen on Fedora 8.
I currently have an nVidia 8500GT, but I'm having issues with dual-screen
under the open-source drivers, and the proprietary drivers don't support
Xen.
I have not yet purchased the 1920x1200 screens, as I wanted to make sure
that my card supported them first. Since I'm having so many problems with
the nVidia, I'm looking for an alternative card. The monitors I will most
likely purchase are 2 Samsung 245B.
Regards, Msquared...

OGL Support
by Joseph L. Casale
Hi,
I was about to try a few CAD apps under Fedora and wondered if there exists a good resource for high end graphic support under Fedora that someone could direct me to.
The cards of interest to me are nvidia and ati types.
Thanks for any pointers,

Mysteries of openldap
by Timothy Murphy
I'm running openldap on my desktop,
and can access it fine from my laptop.
But I'd like to use TLS encryption
(as the desktop ldap is open to the world).
Unfortunately I find the openldap documentation
very difficult to follow.
It is almost as though they speak a different language,
say Finnish or Hungarian.
I've followed the instructions in chapter 14, "Using TLS",
in the OpenLDAP Software 2.4 Administrator's Guide
at <http://www.openldap.org/doc/admin24/>.
I've un-commented out the lines
-----------------------------
TLSCACertificateFile /etc/pki/tls/certs/ca-bundle.crt
TLSCertificateFile /etc/pki/tls/certs/slapd.pem
TLSCertificateKeyFile /etc/pki/tls/certs/slapd.pem
-----------------------------
and restarted "service ldap".
But I see no evidence that this has had any effect.
I can access the ldap directory from my laptop
exactly as I did before,
even if I make the change
-----------------------------
# TLS_REQCERT allow
TLS_REQCERT try
-----------------------------
in ldap.conf on my laptop,
which as far as I can see (from "man ldap.conf")
should require my certificate(s) to be checked.
But is seems to work, as I said, with or without certificates,
and I see no evidence from tcpdump that
any encryption has been requested or implemented.
If someone who speaks openldap could enlighten me
I should be very grateful.
Incidentally, I have avoided installing SASL authentication,
basically because I assumed that as it is comes from Cyrus
it was somehow related to Cyrus-Imap,
which caused me great grief before I moved to dovecot.
Is SASL in fact the standard way to authenticate openldap?
I read somewhere that there are "many ways"
of authenticating openldap ,
without unfortunately any particular way being suggested.
Apologies for addressing what is probably an inappropriate forum.
I tried posting to the gmane newsgroup
mirroring the mailing list at openldap-software(a)openldap.org
but unfortunately my postings there never appear.
Any advice or suggestions gratefully received.

pb with openpgp and thunderbird
by François Patte
Bonsoir,
I got a problem with thunderbird and openpgp: I cannot read any messages
sent by myself and signed with pgp enabled.
details:
1- I send a test message to myself, with pgp signature: I cannot read
it, tb is stuck and I have to kill it.
problem occurs even if I send the message with another mail editor (mutt
for instance).
2- I send some message to someone and sign it. I cannot read the reply.
Problem does not seem to occur if I disable pgp.
does anyone have a clue?
running fc6 with thunderbird-2.0.0.9-1.fc7.i386
pb was there with thunderbird-1.5 from fc6, that's why I upgraded to f7
thunderbird.
Thanks for any help.
