locking down/securing Fedora/Redhat/centos servers
by bruce
Hi...
Getting to a situation where a couple of my servers are going to have to be
setup to face the external net.. Need to find a couple of really good
resources, or to identify a couple of good people I can exchange emails with
to set this process up.
Given the nature of the bot apps, and everything else that's happening, this
can't be screwed up...
So, if you're in the security area regarding linux, let's talk!
Thanks

Removal of F8 on torrent page
by Mustafa Qasim
Hello All!
Shouldn't we remove F8 from torrent and mirrors at Fedora
torrent page and encourage to use the recent one.

Squid stops firefox after upgrade to F10 from F9
by Colin Paul Adams
I've had to turn of the proxy on Firefox so as to access the internet.
Hopefully Franck Cox can tell me what I need to do (as it is his setup
for the ultimate web browsing machine that I use).
In /etc/squid I see three files (amongst others):
squid.conf - squid.conf.default and squid.conf.rpmnew .
The first one is dated in May, and presumably is the one that contains
the modifications that I made to use Franck's setup. But why isn't it
using it now? And why is there a .default file?

Fedora 10 option missing for fedora-package-announce
by Andre Robatino
There is still no "Fedora 10" checkbox available in the
fedora-package-announce Subscription Options. I sent an email to
fedora-package-announce-owner(a)redhat.com 2 days ago but have heard
nothing. Currently the only way to get Fedora 10 emails is to uncheck
all the version boxes, resulting in getting emails for all versions.

No can't do Sh***t. Have to press reboot button or manually power down by pressing and holding power button :(
Machine freezes, upon rebooting when manually powering down, I see messages that the kernel had an oops and ask(ed)(s) me if I want to send the information and I already did. Machine is running so far with X, 1:23 and counting, let's see how long this lasts?
Thank you for your input regarding this issue.

Antonio

stty switch
by Patrick Dupre
Hello,
Before, ie until version 7 at least, it was possible to start in
a non graphic mode, to log in a tty mode and then to start an X session
(startx). Then it was possible to switch to another tty (2 for example)
than then work from there. In FC10, the X session is broken if we do
a CTL ALT F1 (from the X session).
Is it normal ?
Regards.

How to resize disk in fedora?
by barba Fisko
I installed some time ago Fedora 9, to try linux.
When i was installing i set 50 gb of my disk space for fedora 9.
Now i would like to reduce that size to some 20gb, because i don't need so
much space on linux, and i need much more space on my windows partition.
How to do that?
