Continuing dnf weirdness
by Ian Pilcher
Can anyone explain this output?
http://pastebin.com/1xtjpB5s
I.e. why is dnf complaining about broken dependencies in
libreoffice-gtk2 and libreoffice-x11 when neither package is installed
or required by any of the updates being installed?

Is ldconfig doing this to me?
by Tom Horsley
For testing my hack to fix this bug:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1395366
I renamed libepoxy.so.0.0.0 to libepoxy.so.0.0.0.orig
and put my own hacked version of libepoxy.so.0.0.0 in
the /lib64 directory in place of the orig.
Things worked for a while, then started failing again,
and now I notice that I have these symlinks:
tomh> ls -l /lib64/libepoxy*
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 17 Feb 4 2016 /lib64/libepoxy.so -> libepoxy.so.0.0.0*
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 22 Nov 21 10:03 /lib64/libepoxy.so.0 -> libepoxy.so.0.0.0.orig*
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 4588616 Nov 16 09:05 /lib64/libepoxy.so.0.0.0*
-rwxr-xr-x. 1 root root 1031200 Feb 4 2016 /lib64/libepoxy.so.0.0.0.orig*
So somehow the renamed file got linked back in to libepoxy.so.0.
My current theory is that maybe updating something completely different
ran ldconfig, and ldconfig rewrote the symlink. Does that sound
believable?
Maybe I need to move the orig file to some place other than
the /lib64 directory...

SELinux forces Fedora 25 upgrade into a reboot loop
by Sam Varshavchik
With selinux set to enforcing, my system-upgrade to 25 failed to start,
resulting in a reboot loop. I fished the following out of journalctl:
Nov 25 09:51:55 thinkpenguin.email-scan.com audit[1]: AVC avc: denied
{ open } for pid=1 comm="systemd" path="/var/lib/dnf/system-upgrade/.dnf-
system-upgrade" dev="dm-1" ino=1181602 scontext=system_u:system_r:init_t:s0
I had to drop to an emergency shell, and set selinux to permissive, in order
for the upgrade to do its thing.
Wondering if all upgrades with selinux enabled are broken, or just something
with this particular laptop. This doesn't look like a system-specific
failure to me, but if all upgrades with enforcing selinux blow up like this,
I would've expected a lot of noise in here, by now… More details in bug
1398696.

Dell's got a cybermonday offer on this machine today. 6th Gen i7, 16GB,
1TB disk, Nvidia GT 730/2GB.
Any reason F25 won't run on it? Other comments? Thanks.

Fedora 25 upgrade woes
by Denis Leroy
Hi List,
So I updated both my Fedora laptops from 24 to 25, resulting in both
booting into black screens with no login dialogs and no way of going
into a console or looking at logs.
Both systems are very different. One is a Lenovo, built-in Intel
graphics support and XFCE, the other is a Dell with a AMD Firepro M5100
graphics card running Cinnamon. Yet the result is the same. I assumed
Wayland is at fault here, however I noticed both systems work fine if I
boot with an older kernel:
kernel-4.8.6-300.fc25.x86_64 : works
kernel-4.8.8-300.fc25.x86_64 : nope
I had some trouble finding further info on this looking at various
forums and mailing lists, hence my message here. Any insight appreciated.

Middle Button Emulation -
by Bob Goodwin
I'm having troubled setting middle
button emulation in a new Fedora25
Workstation/XFCE installation. first I
added:
Section "InputClass"
Identifier "middle button
emulation class"
MatchIsPointer "on"
Option "Emulate3Buttons" "on"
Driver "evdev"
EndSection
to
/usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-evdev.conf
as I have done in the past. then my
notes led me to "xinput" but I can't
make that work, dunno the right command ...
I find it hard to work without this
feature, especially when configuring a
new install so it is one of the first
things I fix!
What am I doing wrong?

F25 nautilus problem: Double clicking on .tgz archives will extract
them immediatley into the same directory
by Joachim Backes
Hy all F25 users,
I'm running F25 with gnome/X11 desktop environment, and having problems
with nautilus: I have some directories where .tgz archives are located.
Suddenly, clicking on the .tgz files will no more open them and show
their contents, but the .tgz file will be immediately unpacked into the
same dir. How to restore the old behaviour which will only open the
archive and not unpack it?
Any help will be appreciated.
Kind regards
Joachim Backes

Redshift and Dropbox not quite working after F24-F25 upgrade
by Matthew Saltzman
I have two GNOME workstations upgraded from F24 to F25. Before the
upgrade, Dropbox and Redshift were accessible from the little slide-out
task bar at the lower left of the screen. Now, on one I see Dropbox but
not Redshift and on the other, I don't have the slide-out drawer at
all. According to GNOME Tweak-Tool, both apps are listed on the startup
panel.
So far, everything else seems to have gone smoothly.
How to debug? TIA.
