Moving from one to another computer may require a complete reload of
F7. Not a problem and I have already done it once just to prove a point.
The DVD of F7 loads on the other computer just fine. It has the nVIDIA
pointer problem but now we know how to fix.
I just looked and all there appears to be is the basic i386 and
i686-64 DVD's on the Red Hat web page. Is there someplace I could d/l
all the updates to F7 on a cd-rom iso? The re-spin of F7 will appear
some day. Has the idea of a cd with all the updates been thought of?
I can look at /var/log/yum.log and there all my updates and d/l are
listed. I will get that as a file and print it for the near future. I
sure don't need all the kernel's just the latest one. But I want all the
udev's :-)

quickly ended up with over a gig of updates, sometimes just a few days
after release, it seems. More than could fit on a CD-ROM.

I am *not* a real Fedora person but this is the way that I see Fedora
working.
Rawhide, the development branch of Fedora, is on going. When the 'time
comes' there is a freeze, several actually, to stabilize things and then a
release.
The development goes on, it never really stops.
*No distro* really releases a completely bug-free, try as they might,
release. During the last freeze and the release many of these bugs are
fixed. That makes for a flood of updates. I think that is a great system.
Now. Something to think about here. A 700Gig iso of all the *current*
updates? And I only have installed, and need a 100M package. Do I d/l the
iso and burn the CD for one package? Or do I - yum update <package>
hmmm... 8-)

to F7 that I load tomorrow. How do I do this?

What you're talking about is a 'respin'. I spent a little time
on Google and couldn't find any current Fedora 7 respins[1].
However if you wanted to create your own the following might

It would have to be done in a smart way. Delete from the list all
the kernel updates but the last for example.

thing, etc. It was how much was downloaded to update one system. And
that wasn't a system with everything installed, it had not much more
than the basic install.

Hi Tim I am yumming Punji and will do a lot of reading. My slow DSL
modem is not good but once I get /etc/pungi.conf proper I can make a new
.iso of this version of (respin of) F7. The yum of punji brought along a
lot of dependants.

Yes and the tool seems to be punji with rpm and anaconda and a
kickstart file I THINK?
The documentation is non-existant. I am looking at

and it makes zero sense. My next thing will be punji --help

I was making that getting all the updates, is an awful lot of files.
It's less work to just get what you need.
Anyway, this adds another complication: Your update disc is out-of-date
rather rapidly. I'd only take this approach if you were going to update
a collection of non-networked computers, that you only bothered to
update fairly infrequently.

I am not sure I follow this - why would downloading a CD image with
all the updates, including updates for packages you do not have
installed, be a smaller download then downloading the packages you
need? If you are going to be updating more then one machine, you can
set yum to keep the packages it downloads, and then create a local
repo for your local machines. (Or copy the RPMs to a shared
directory, and do a yum localupdate to update the other machines.
