Android-tools does not find device

Dear All,

My Android tablet is stuck on

Fastboot mode.

I have tried to reboot it by pressing POWER and VOLUME UP keys held
simultaneously, but with no success. Consequently, now I am trying to
use

android-tools.

However, when I run the following command, no device is found, in
spite of the fact that the table is connected to my computer running
Fedora by a USB cable:

# adb devices
List of devices attached

#

Any ideas?

First step: is a new device appearing in "lsusb"
output?

If you get it, you can start wondering about the adb tool and any udev
permissions problem.

Thanks, Ranjan. I do not suspect the cable is the culprit -- I have
used it to charge the device. I have also used the USB port to connect
other devices with no problem.

I am trying to do a

adb reboot

of the tablet.

the "fastboot" tool, not "adb"?

Thanks, Ranjan. I just tried with a different cable and a different
android device, and again the device is not found. So, I think we can
rule out the cables as the culprit.

I would still try a different cable, or use the cable with a different 
device.  Just because you can use the cable for charging doesn't mean 
it's able to pass data.
