firefox crashes with acroread plugin

Hello,

this bug is hitting me since at least firefox Version 1.5.0.6 (i think 1.5.0.5 
introduced the bug). Also the new 1.5.0.7 Version has this bug.

Every time the acroread Plugin is called firefox crashes. Also there is an 
additional bug (or probably the same bug in another look and feel). The SUN 
Java Plugin starts, but does just nothing. Could be easily reproduced by 
surfing onto the SUN Java Testpage 
(http://www.java.com/en/download/help/testvm.xml)

These bug probably is introduced by some change for Fedora (or dependent from 
Compiler Version?), as the stock binary from mozilla.org does not show this 
bug.

I already wrote a Bugzilla Report (#203709), but no reaction until now.

So please fix this bug, as it is really very annoying.

Hello,

I never had this issue.

I'm using Firefox from the tar ball format, because has my country
language. It's locate at /opt/firefox.

I just did copy nppdf.so from
/usr/local/Adobe/Acrobat7.0/Browser/intellinux/ to
/opt/firefox/plugins/. And I repeat the process when Adobe Reader
changes its version.

I have builded my own java using the tips at fedorafaq's site. Then I do
a symbolic link from /opt/firefox/plugins/ pointing the java plugin to
its original place.

Regarding the Sun Java Plugin, I installed it just yesterday
on my up-to-date FC5 system running Mozilla-1.7.13.

When I go to the Testpage above, it says the plugin is installed but
"the dancing Duke logo" doesn't render at all.  I see just a white area.
So I'm not sure this problem is related to your acroread problem.

Regarding acroread, I had a problem getting acroread to run in mozilla.
It turned out to be due to a conflict (that I still don't understand)
between mozplugger and the nppdf.so plugin library from Adobe.

Do you have mozplugger installed?

Hi,

This probably isn't the right list for your request, but I'm not sure
where is.

You see, I suspect that your bug will take low priority because it's
difficult for Fedora developers to tell what the Acroread software does.
Their priority in any case will be on evince and other Free PDF readers.

Their recommendation would probably be to contact Acrobat, since it's
their software that's causing the crash, but I don't hold out much hope
that *they'll* be very interested either.

In any case, there are few Fedora developers reading this list (due to
the volume), so your plea will probably have gone un-noticed by most
people in a position to investigate.
