Xinetd not working..

I have my one of my xinetd service set to redirect http sevices to
another server.  I'm getting this in /etc/log/messages:  Any Idea
whats causing this?

The config you posted works for me.  Since xinetd failed to parse almost 
every line, one might guess that you've got DOS linefeeds in there.

I did do a copy & paste....should I create it from scratch?

I don't know what you "should" do.  I copied the text that you provided 
into a new file, /etc/xinetd.d/http, and reloaded xinetd.  It didn't 
have any trouble with the file (on FC5).

Yep you're right.  Wrote it out manually and it worked.  Those DOS
char. should be visible so we can correct them.  Oh well,  Thanks!

Whether or not they are depends on which editor you use. :)

As a bit of a tangent, if you need to convert a file from dos line
ends to unix line ends, check out the dos2unix package.  There are 2
binaries there, dos2unix and mac2unix.  They are cryptically named, I
know.  You get three guesses what they do. :)

And if you ever need to go the other way, there's a unix2dos package
as well.  Not to mention various editor macros you can use; command
line tricks using perl, sed, tr, or other utilities.

In older versions of Emacs, the end of each line of such a file contains a
^M. In newer versions of Emacs, it says (DOS) in the status bar.
