here's what it means: I get the GUI login prompt, enter username,
password, it churns a bit, gives the login sound, screen goes black
while the animated mouse pointer goes round and round. after a little
bit it goes blue and I get the login dialog again.
I've had that, in the past, when I've not had a "sticky" bit set on
the /tmp permissions.
[tim@suspishus ~]$ ll -Zd /tmp
drwxrwxrwt. root root system_u:object_r:tmp_t:s0 /tmp
[tim@suspishus ~]$ ll -d /tmp/
drwxrwxrwt. 66 root root 4096 2009-09-12 21:28 /tmp/
so what do I do now?
Switch to another console, e.g. CTRL+ALT+F3, and try logging in again in
the text environment.
