I think I found the answer to the problem i am having with the Radeon
7000.
According to
http://www.winischhofer.net/sisdri.shtml
"There is no DRI support for the SiS
315/550/650/651/740/661/741/760/330."
Since the motherboard is using a SiS 741, I guess I am SOL.

I believe that the following errors are what are causing the breakage.
(From /var/log/Xorg.0.log)
drmOpenDevice: minor is 0
drmOpenDevice: node name is /dev/dri/card0
drmOpenDevice: open result is -1, (Unknown error 999)
drmOpenDevice: open result is -1, (Unknown error 999)
drmOpenDevice: Open failed
drmOpenDevice: minor is 0
drmOpenDevice: node name is /dev/dri/card0
drmOpenDevice: open result is -1, (Unknown error 999)
drmOpenDevice: open result is -1, (Unknown error 999)
drmOpenDevice: Open failed
[drm] failed to load kernel module "agpgart"
drmOpenDevice: minor is 0
drmOpenDevice: node name is /dev/dri/card0
drmOpenDevice: open result is 8, (OK)
drmGetBusid returned ''
X does not seem to recover well from this and goes off into never-never
land.
Here are the permissions on /dev/dri:
crw-rw-rw- 1 root root 226, 0 Jun 5 19:16 card0
crw------- 1 root root 226, 1 Feb 23 13:02 card1
crw------- 1 root root 226, 2 Feb 23 13:02 card2
crw------- 1 root root 226, 3 Feb 23 13:02 card3
Here is the info on the agpgart interface (from dmesg):
Linux agpgart interface v0.100 (c) Dave Jones
agpgart: Detected SiS 741 chipset
agpgart: Maximum main memory to use for agp memory: 203M
agpgart: AGP aperture is 64M @ 0xd0000000
Any ideas what is going wrong here?
This bug is in bugzilla at
