USB Descriptor error message on booting

Hello,
I just recently installed Fedora 10. On booting, I see the error messages 
regarding USB port below. This makes the boot process really slow, at it seems 
to get delayed for every one of those message.

I tried plugging in my USB stick after I logged in to KDE and it seems to 
work. I also have Creative Webcam on USB (which I haven't tried). In any case, 
what are these messages ? 

(These are taken from "dmesg", but they are the same messages I saw when 
booting. I can send the complete output of "dmesg" if necessary).

I'll give that a try. But, this seems to be something hardware related and not 
quite consistent. My last reboot didn't show any of the errors I mentioned 
before and so booted normally with no delay. Nothing has changed in the 
system.

OK, if it keeps happening, I'll try updating the BIOS. Thanks for your

I would unplug all but essential USB devices (mouse? keyboard?) and
reboot to see if the long boot time is related to USB (my guess is not).

I would also recommend updating BIOS because it generally does fix
motherboard USB junk. I note that I purchased a new Acer Aspire One just
2 weeks ago and found that my 'edge' USB hard disk didn't work that well
in Linux, didn't work at all in Windows (dual-boot) and BIOS update made
things work right for both.

It's a crap shoot to be sure.

I usually have Creative Webcam, Multimedia card reader (for SD card, mmc, 
etc), and a Cannon LIDE scanner . They all used to work under FC 7, although 
when booting FC 7 it also gave similar messages, but less and booted faster. 

I tried the card reader, and pluging in USB flash drive and they seem to work. 
Haven't tried the Webcam because it used to need GSPCA driver (and I haven't 
looked into how this would work under Fedora 10). Haven't tried the scanner 
either since someone is borrowing it, but usually  it works out of the box 
with XSane. 
In short, various USB devices seem to work despite the messages and the long 
boot (although sometime I have to unplug and plug the card reader back in, 
because for some reason it's not recognized). 

They are all plugged in into motherboard USB.

Hm.. that's a good point. I don't think I update the BIOS since I got it. Not 
sure if I want to unless I have to, since there's always a risk that I end up 
destroying the motherboard :)

Is this a motherboard USB or expansion card?

Do you have up to date BIOS? I have found that I have to update BIOS on
various computers to get the motherboard USB to work properly.
