Anyone using kodi?

I'm just installed kodi on my new Intel NUC, and
while it mostly works, it believes that the timezone
is UTC. I even modified the custom systemd service
to add an Environment definition setting TZ, and it
continues to display UTC time on the screen.

(This is on fedora 26).

The kodi timezone setting is always disabled even
in Expert settings mode, so I can't set it directly
in kodi.

I'd hate to think I'd have to change the hardware
clock to store localtime like windows :-).

I don't use Kodi. But did you try the timedatectl command to set TZ?

If I ask timedatectl what the timezone is, it tells
me the correct zone. If I run "date" in an ssh session into
the kodi box, it tells me the correct time. Only kodi
refuses to display the time.

Also if I exit kodi and start it up again long after
systemd has had a chance to get everything going, it
still shows the wrong time (so it isn't some timing
issue in the systemd startup).

I'm completely out of ideas.

It is blank and Timezone is disabled.

I'm starting to think I should try manually editing
the gui settings file under ~/.kodi.

Kodi is one confusing package!

I'm running kodi-17 here.  From the Home (top level) screen click on the 
gear symbol at the top left portion of the screen.  From there select 
Interface Settings then on the left select Regional.  On that page there 
are options for "Timezone Country" and "Timezone" as well as time and

date formats.

When I change a timezone the clock at the top right immediately reflects 
the new time so I think that's what you're looking for.

That's where it is:

  Interface settings->Regional->Timezone country->Select your country
  Interface settings->Regional->Timezone->Select your timezone

I did:

  Interface settings->Regional->Timezone country->United States
  Interface settings->Regional->Timezone->America/Los_Angeles

Hey! That was it. The country setting wasn't disable (just blank).
When I set it to "United States", the Timezone immediately became
enabled and even had the correct value filled in.

That killed a day :-).

I suspect that the blank country setting means "UTC". It appeared that
my time was 8 hours ahead (which would be UTC) before I changed it.
