Dlink DWA192 Partially Supported in Kernel?

Hi,

      I have just upgraded my usb wireless adapter from a Dlink DWA182 
which was not supported by the kernel, which I'm told never will be 
supported by the kernel, to a Dlink DWA192 which appears to be natively 
supported by the kernel. The issue I have is that the network interface 
only sees the 2.4GHz ssid it doesn't see the 5GHz ssid, is this intended 
functionality, inadvertent or is support for the 5GHz band not 
implemented yet? I'm currently using the 4.3.5-300 kernel.

Can you tell us which driver is being used for your wifi? I suspect
it's the iwlwifi or rtlwifi (and things like rtl8192cu). If it's the
latter (rtlwifi), then I don't see anything in the driver params that
would disable 5GHz.

Can you do something like "iw phy" and see if it shows any 5GHz
capabilities?

The command networkctl status wlp4s6 tells me it is using the
ath9k driver.
Iwconfig gives me the following information:

wlp4s6    IEEE 802.11bgn  ESSID:"Linksys07468"

           Bit Rate=121.5 Mb/s   Tx-Power=17 dBm

I suspect this is because it is currently using the 2.4GHz band. The 
ESSID above tells me that is the information for my router, not the 
wireless adapter, and I am a little confused with the IEEE value as both 
the router and the adapter are 802.11ac.

As far as I can see the only band being shown is the 2.4GHz band, but
I 
have attached the output in case I have missed something

It may be worth pointing out that I get the same issue under Ubuntu 
15.04 as well, but I can use both channels under Windows 10 albeit with 
a vendor supplied driver for the adapter.
