I've been spoiled by the speed of the solid state drive on my laptop.
This upgrade was on my desktop, which has standard physical disks. There
are points during the upgrade when there are no messages and only an
occasional flicker from the harddrive indicator.
After a few hours of installation/upgrading, the machine is functioning
(almost) correctly.
There's will be some work still to deal with the upgrade to postgresql
10.7 to 11.2, etc. (Been there ... i.e. restore from backups)

After 15+ years, I've become very reliant on that email blast.
