R: Re: Introduction of myself
by Robert Mayr
In fact I've read the "join" page, but Shaiton gave me more detailled instructions.
I'm going to start this evening, maybe we could think about opening a ticket to improve the "webpage-join" page?
Could be an easyfix item... :)
Bye

Realistically that's not a 'start page'. That page is there to
instruct folks on how to submit fixes to the fp.o website.
The better start page should be this one [1]. Although looking at it,
it should be updated a bit.

Introduction of myself
by Robert Mayr
Hi to everyone,
my name is Robert Mayr, alias robyduck [1], and I'm a Fedora user
since the Core 1b release. Before that I used Redhat 7.3, but only
sporadically.
In January 2005 I founded the Italian Fedora community Fedora Online
[2], and just a few months ago we restyled the hole site. We also
pubblished a webzine written in LateX and in 2008 we wrote a small
manual for Fedora newbies, based on Fedora 9.
I'm speaking fluently German and Italian and also know English, so I
could contribute also on the open project of translation, which is
ongoing. My other skills are html, php, mysql, css3.
I'm living near Milan since 2010, before I spent most time of my life
in Bolzano (South Tyrol). I have 2 daughters and the third child (a
son this time!) is coming within the next 3 weeks.
It would be nice to contribute to the website team by maintaining the
major site, but also the various interesting sub-projects.
Cheers
Robert Mayr

Question about FAS nuckname.
by Gabriele Trombini
Hello everyone,
an italian user would like to subscribe to a FAS account using his nickname (caterpillar).
Doing that, the website reported that his nickname was already in use, but there isn't ant user with this nicknane[1].
He knows that I'm an Ambassador, so he asked me if there is a way for him to reserve this nick.
I don't know if there is a reason, or any other cause, for blocking this nick (blacklist, spam etc.), but I thought that was better ask to this ML.
What do you think about?

Hi Toshio,
yes, yesterday he told to me exactly this, but I didn't knew before
writing in ML.
Obviously Kevin found the same user, because you had already fixed
the problem.
Thank you both for the cooperation, and I'm sure that this was a
exception.
See you soon.

Busted project email archives on fedorahosted.org :(
by Justin Clift
Hi,
Just discovered a serious problem with the fedorahosted.org email archives.
At least some of our (important) messages are missing large amounts of content.
For example, this important Aeolus Community email, which we want to direct people
towards as reference:
https://fedorahosted.org/pipermail/aeolus-devel/2012-June/010794.html
It's only *1 sentence* in your archives. 95% of it is missing. :(
The _full_ version of it is included below. (significantly longer)
How do we go about getting this fixed? (and preferably making sure it doesn't
happen again)
Regards and best wishes,
Justin Clift

This got me thinking... there's a difference between what we'd recommend to users, and what they'll actually do. By this, I mean that there might be a boffin or two somewhere who could devise some unique uses for Aeolus that we've never even thought of. And I think that what some might consider Aeolus's biggest weakness (it's still experimental) could end up being its biggest strength (experimental is fun and exciting!).

So they write an Image Template that includes the relevant Apache and Postgres packages. They also write a Deployable Template that installs and configures Drupal (via Audrey) to an instance with httpd/db.

This way I'm helping improve the content of templates.aeolusproject.org through feedback.

Regardless, I do think is an idea that can really enhance the Aeolus Community and the project too. If anyone has an ideas, suggestions, drawbacks or general comments, please share them.
