The docs are DocBook, but the website is currently php. Our internal
translation team works almost exclusively with gettext .po format files so
given this, perhaps the approach described at these two links would be
appropriate:

And to serve the content correctly to users, we could use some
php.
PHP.net website has a nice script to detect and handle content-language
headers.
