My naive answer is: check the DumpLocation setting in /etc/abrt.conf.
The default is /var/tmp/abrt. If that doesn't work for you, it smells
like a bug.
DumpLocation is unset.
Given that this is the case, are you saying that I shouldn't be getting
core files in $HOME at all?
