I have have installed sudo dnf install kernel-5.15.6-200.fc35 and it completes without error.
The problem is that I do not see the new kernel as an option during system boot.
When I execute the command ls /boot | grep '^vm' I see vmlinuz-5.14.10-300.fc35.x86_64 but I do not see an entry for kernel-5.16.6.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the new kernel, but that has not fixed the problem.
What should I do to get the option to boot the new kernel ?
The kernel data is spread across several sub-packages. You will also need kernel-core, kernel-modules, and any other kernel package you have for the other kernels, such as the devel package. Try 'rpm -qa kernel-*’ to see all kernel package you have installed.
The kernel package is a metapackage that pulls in both kernel-core and kernel-modules if you install it. The vmlinuz file is in kernel-core.
