The recent mesa/glx-utils update has sped up glxgears from about 500-600 fps using indirect rendering to 3200 fps. Previously glxgears didn't recognize my card's id (71d2/71f2), so it might not have really been a big change in the code. But it is still nice to see support for ATI cards improving. The card is an ATI FireGL 3400 using an RV530GL chipset.
Updated to 1.3 mesa 7.0.3 and glxgears gives me only 1924 FPS on my RV350AP (Radeon 9600), can't tell it's x6 times better but well, at least something
