loading failure for firewire ohci1394
by chris stringer
After some help from the community, I have narrowed
down my original problem.
My system stops loading when it reahces the following
phrase "initializing firewire controller (ohci 1394).
What can I do to fix this problem? Please help as I
really want to use Fedora instead of XP.

OK, thanks for that info, I won't worry about blowing up the display...
But I still have not had success getting to the 1024x768 resolution.
I have tried increasing the hsync and vsync, up to as high as 150. It
seems to make no difference.
I am attaching the XF86Config and XFree86.0.log as well. One line of
interest in the log file is:
"(II) I810(0): Not using mode "1024x768" (no mode of this name)"
I tried adding the "Modeline" entry into XF86Config, but that seemed to
have no effect either.
Any ideas?

Hello
What are all the steps needed to get this palm to work with fedora via
usb? I know it has something to do with dev/pilot, but that's all I
know at this point.
Thanks!

re:Apache 1.3x and mod_perl 1.2x
by Nate Bradley
I am in the process of building the rpms now
apache-1.3.29
mod_perl-1.29
mod_ssl-2.8.16
also PHP 4.3.4
you can use legacy packages from RH7.3 after you install some compat
packages to satisfy dependencies
the current release of php-imap for FC1 doesn't work with apache 1.3 so
I rebuild it and I have the RPMS.
mod_perl is done and works
I can build apache without auth_db if someone out there wants to help
solve that problem.

GPG key failure on up2date with FC1
by Mark Haney
Okay, I know I"m late as hell to the game here, but I just took the plunge
and upgraded from RH9 to FC1 and I'm getting a wierd GPG error when trying
to use up2date. It says that the package has been tampered with or is
corrupt when checking the gpg key. What's the deal? I'm sure this has
been discussed, but bear with me, I've been out of the loop for a couple
months now.

Hi,
Anyone know what the problem is with the list archives not being available, or
when they might be available?
I'd like to try and look up a solution for the following entries in my daily
logwatch:

sound-slot-1: 10 Time(s)

I'm sure I've seen them discussed, but I don't save all the traffic from the
list. :-)

Apache 1.3x and mod_perl 1.2x
by Dave Cross
In (about) RH8, the default Apache installation was switched to Apache
2.x. This seems to be a reasonable decision as Apache 2.x is generally
very stable. Unfortunately it also meant that the version of mod_perl
included had to be changed to 1.9x and that version of mod_perl isn't
quite ready for serious use yet.
It's fine for most uses. If you just want to make your CGI programs run
faster by running them under Apache::Registry (now renamed
ModPerl::Registry) then there are no problems with it. But if you want
to write (or use) more complex mod_perl handlers like, for example,
Apache::MVC then you're a bit stuck as many of them don't work under
that version of mod_perl yet.
So it seems that for serious Apache/mod_perl development work, you
should still be using the Apache 1.3x and mod_perl 1.2x branches. But I
can't find recent RPMs of these versions. The mod_perl that shipped with
RH7.3 will have been build against Perl 5.6.x and therefore won't work
with the Perl 5.8.1 that is in Fedora.
Has anyone else run up against these problems or (even better) solved
them? Is there a modern RPM of the older Apache/mod_perl stuff around
anywhere? Would there be any interest in creating one?
Dave...

I invoke X using 'startx', i did an uptime and that's my load average:
0.41, 0.15, 0.06.
As I said before, even booting with an older kernel and reinstalling an
older version of the driver, the problem continues. I've tried
everything of NVIDIA's FAQ's and forums with no success. I posted a
question there but they didn't answer.
Thanks for your reply,
