seek pointer to howto install disk drivers during installation
by Bob Kryger
I have a supermicro system with this Adaptec HostRAID (not my idea). I'm
trying to install FC3 or FC4, but they do not have drivers. I have
downloaded the drivers, but I don't know exactly how to go through the
install process.
I understand that I'll have to load the drivers (aar81xx...) w/ insmod
durint the anaconda build and then do a mkinitrd for the install, but do
not know the exact procedure. I've googled for it, but not found
anything particularly helpful.
is there a doc that details the procedure?
Thanks
Bob

To be honest: no. I only downloaded the x86_64.tgz, unzipped and
untarred it, and ran the install script. After that I had some xen
kernels in /boot, and due to the "x86_64" in the file name I assumed
that they were 64bit. That's all.

Running a 64bit and 32bit fedora at the same time
by Harald Grossauer
I have an Athlon64 system with FC4-x86_64 running. For several reasons I
also would like to have a FC3_i386 system running at the same time. How
can I do that?
I tried to use Xen (the 3.0-unstable-x86_64) but it did not work (could
not find my root partition after the xen kernel was loaded, probably due
to missing SATA support in the kernel). Neither could I compile Xen-2.7
myself (gcc4 complained about a struct with unkown length, gcc32 issued
a warning which is treated as an error in by the xen Makefiles).
So I created an ext3 filesystem in an ordinary file and mounted it. Then
I thought I could install FC3_i386 into that file so that I later can
chroot into it. But since the installer (autorun) of FC3_i386 needs to
be root I am afraid that it messes up my currently runnning system.
Do you have some links, help or additional information for me?

morning "yum update" complains about libtool needing gcc-4.0.1
by Robert P. J. Day
over a week since my last FC4 "yum update", and this morning's
attempt generates:
...
---> Package gcc-c++.i386 0:4.0.2-8.fc4 set to be updated
--> Running transaction check
--> Processing Dependency: gcc = 4.0.1 for package: libtool
--> Finished Dependency Resolution
Error: Missing Dependency: gcc = 4.0.1 is needed by package libtool
so the update would obviously update gcc from 4.0.1 to 4.0.2, but this
wouldn't go down well with libtool. i could just update and exclude
libtool, unless someone knows if this would cause any breakage.

KDE bug
by Sergey
Perhaps it's not a KDE bug, anyway... Start to Switch user -> start new
session. Log in, you have now X servers on vt7 & vt8 and you can switch by
ctrl-alt-f7/f8. Ok, now close new session started at vt8. This should
terminate X :1. Now try to start another session again. The screen colors
corrupted and everything freezes, reset hardware key only helps...

KDE "space on ok"
by Sergey
Here is a stupid issue, however it does not let me sleep well... If you go to
any options dialog in KDE, or just see a messagebox, why pressing space on
OK, Cancel, Retry, etc, only pushes it down, and does not act as usual?
Pressing enter is ok. Browse with <tab> to highlight an OK button and click
space...
