I have googloed this message error and found lots of posts. Tried all
the pointed solutions and still can't mount it.

How to add my own path into sys.path for python on FC4?
by Robinson Tiemuqinke
Hi,
I get an odd question to ask: how to recompile python
rpm package on FC4 to add my own path into python's
search
path, so that every user include root or apache on my
testbox can see it?
The default search path is:
testnode01.example.com root 20% python2.4 -c 'import
sys; print sys.path'
['', '/usr/lib/python24.zip', '/usr/lib/python2.4',
'/usr/lib/python2.4/plat-linux2',
'/usr/lib/python2.4/lib-tk',
'/usr/lib/python2.4/lib-dynload',
'/usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages']
But I would like it to be:
testnode01.example.com root 20% python2.4 -c 'import
sys; print sys.path'
['/example.com/sitepackages', '',
'/usr/lib/python24.zip', '/usr/lib/python2.4',
'/usr/lib/python2.4/plat-linux2',
'/usr/lib/python2.4/lib-tk',
'/usr/lib/python2.4/lib-dynload',
'/usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages']
I've looked at the configure.sh script but there
isn't this option while perl does have.
Any ideas? Thanks.

OpenOfficeDraw
by Peter Lesterhuis
Hi,
I want to export files from OpenOfficeDraw as .eps - file.
When I try to export a file from OpenOfficeDraw (file-export-) a dialog
box opens. In this box is a dropdown menu where one can choose the
filetype. The menu should show several filetypes. In my box there is an
option for only one filetype: PDF. I am not confusing the other export
entry: file - Export as PDF. However, the dialog boxes that pop up from
both export entries are identical.
I uninstalled OODraw and reinstalled via yum. But this did not change
anything.
On another fc4-box I see 9 export options in this dialog box, among
others "eps".
Perhaps this is not a fedora-list issue. Does anybody have a clue?
Peter.

Linux Fedorar Core 4 and ACPI 2.0
by Robinson Tiemuqinke
Hi,
Just a stupid questions, is the ACPI 2.0 standard
fully support in vanilla 2.6.15 kernel? or just in
FC4's stock 2.6.15 kernel? or both?
It is said that the ACPI 2.0 only added some more
table entries. If the new entries can not be
interpreted by Linux kernel, then what things will
happen?
Thanks in advance.

Color Laser Printer, comments!
by John Pierce
I am considering purchasing a color laser printer for my network and
would appreciate some feedback.
I have looked at the following:
Konica/Minolta 2430DL
HP 2600N
Can anyone tell me how well they work and are supported by cups as a
network laser printing solution?
TIA
John

Sendmail - Increasing the Rejection Criteria
by Jonathan Horne
I would like my sendmail to reject any emails presented that have a
mismatched senders email@domain and host.domain. example:
Return-Path: <info-c(a)inkstudio.com>
Received: from global-change-mail.com (cug31-1-82-234-61-176.fbx.proxad.net
[82.234.61.176])
I have been searching for a couple weeks off and on for the answer to this,
but im having no luck at each attempt. Can someone shed light on how to
force sendmail to demand that senders domain match the hosts domain? With
rejection if they do not match? Reverse lookups are already enabled, but
that seems to only see if the hosts reverse records exists, not whether or
not the email being sent thru it is authorized.
If this setting is even possible, yes, I realize the potential for false
positives, but at this point, in my eyes, this is by far my best solution to
rejecting spam on my private 5 account email server.
Thanks in advance,
jonathan

FC4, Acer Aspire, SiS900, and Network Troubles
by Christian Brink
I just got my new Acer Aspire3005WLCi. It has an internal SiS900
Ethernet NIC, but I can't get it to work at all. No ARP, no ping,
nothing. But the lights work.
I reloaded Windows (as much as it pained me) and the NIC worked fine. I
am using the same cable/cable path as the Windows test. It's going to a
D-Link DSS-5+ 10/100 Fast Ethernet Switch.
lsmod shows the sis900 module loaded.
modprobe.conf shows:
alias eth0 sis900
dmesg shows:
sis900.c: v1.08.08 Jan 22 2005
eth0: SiS 900 PCI Fast Ethernet at 0x1800, IRQ 3, (MAC in Hex)
messages shows:
kernel: sis900.c: v1.08.08 Jan 22 2005
kernel: 0000:00:04.0: Realtek RTL8201 PHY transceiver found at address 13
kernel: eth0: SiS 900 PCI Fast EThernet at 0x1800, IRQ 3, (MAC in Hex)
kernel: eth0 Media Link On 100mbps full-duplex
kernel: NETDEV WATCHDOG: eth0: transmit timed out
kernel: eth0: Transmit timeout, status 00000004 00000241
(last 2 messages repeated)
lspci shows:
00:04.0 Ethernet controller: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] SiS900 PCI
Fast Ethernet (rev91)
I ping a machine and I only see my side sending out an arp request with
no response. Obviously nothing shows in the arp table.

Some wireless questions.
by akonstam@trinity.edu
I have been involved in computer administration for many years but wireless
is new to me. So I have three questions.
1. In the network access using system-config-network and the ipw2200
driver there are three modes are Auto, Managed and Ad-Hoc. The last two
were explained in a message on the list today but what does Auto do?
2. The answer to the first question relates to this question. When I am
in my office there is a gaggle of access points available to me from my
office. In the 2200 GUI in Windows I see them all and can pick one to
connect to.
In system-config-network I can't see these various points and the one it
homes in on , does not do DHCP and no one claims it. In other words, it
does not correspond to any access point known to people in the
building that I can find.
How can I get a behavior more like the Windows GUI?
3, At Trinity in order to connect to our University-wide access point
we need to use LEAP protocol, and enter our Windows username and
passwd. This works easily from Windows on my laptop. How do I pull
this off in FC4?
