pilot and palm sync

Hi,
I have just got a Palm Z22. I would like to use it with jpilot under
F8 with the latest updates. I set the device to 'usb:' in jpilot. It
seems to work as root but not with a normal user! Some permissions?
What should I check?

When I examined the above I found that..

Yes, it fixed mine too. I then looked and found it had switched on
"network" in the above. I don't know if just switching that on would have
done the trick.

USB selective suspend/resume in kernel 2.6.24

I found it activated into the 2.6.23.14-115
maybe my problems are related to that options... I don't know

VIA vt6410 IDE controller not activating

I have an add-in PCI card for my PC that contains a VIA vt6410 IDE
controller chip which is used to provide two additional IDE headers to
allow connection of up to four IDE devices. The controller is not
activating with Fedora 8 (32-bit) and kernel 2.6.24.4-64. The system is
fully updated. Does anyone know what I need to do to get this controller
card to work?
According to my research, support for the vt6410 was introduced in the
2.6.15 kernel <http://kernelnewbies.org/Linux_2_6_15> but it seems that
the driver required a via82cxxx chipset to be present. This is not
appropriate because the vt6410 can be obtained as a separate plug-in
card and used with any chipset. My testing results (below) seem to show
that support broke hard with kernel 2.6.21 and the changeover in libata.
Current system is an ECS 755-A2 motherboard with an SiS 755 chipset and
Sempron processor. There is an IDE drive configured as master on channel
1 of the card (known good, tested on another system). I installed
viaideinfo using yum and get the following results when I run it:

www.ubnt.com offers Nanostation2 "radio" that creates wireless cloud up
to 15 kilometers. That sounds like the perfect way to broadcast live
interactive tv shows (think neighborhood videoconferencing). Anyone
doing this with Fedora operating system and whatever other software needed?

DI-LB604 load balancing router and /etc/resolv.conf

I now have my load balancing router up and running on two modems, one cable
modem and one DSL. So far, it seems to be doing what it's supposed to be
doing.
(For folks who remember my earlier questions regarding this matter, I did try
to order that Xincom router but after much fiddling about was eventually told
that it is out of stock. However, this Dlink DI-LB604 is supposed to do the
same thing. It was also $30 cheaper.)
I have a question about /etc/resolv.conf in relation to this setup.
Each of my two ISPs have two nameservers for customer use. For the sake of
demonstration, let's say that ISP A has nameserver 1.1.1.1 and 2.2.2.2 while
ISP B has nameservers 3.3.3.3 and 4.4.4.4
Now, the name of my internal network is melvilletheatre.net.
My /etc/resolv.conf from when I was using only one single ISP and a regular
(single WAN) router was as follows:
search melvilletheatre.net
nameserver 1.1.1.1
nameserver 2.2.2.2
When I set up this dual router, I changed /etc/resolv.conf to this:
search melvilletheatre.net
nameserver 1.1.1.1
nameserver 3.3.3.3
nameserver 2.2.2.2

This seems to be working at the moment, but I know of at least one problem.
"man resolv.conf" tells me that there can be a maximum of three nameserver
entries so I assume that the 4.4.4.4 entry is being ignored.
My question is, is there a better way to set this up? In addition to load
balancing this router also does failover, so if one of my connections goes down
things are supposed to keep chugging along anyway using the other connection.
It seems like this would be another factor in properly
configuring /etc/resolv.conf because as it is now if ISP A drops then I think I
have only one working nameserver entry left in /etc/resolv.conf at that time.

I have F8 running on an HP a6400f with an rtl8111/8168 10/100/1000
Ethernet interface for which the kernel installed the r8169 driver,
which didn't work. No matter what I tried the interface refused to
transmit.
I have seen several posts on the web, mostly from ubuntu people. Is
thee a fix for F8 (my kernel version on this system is still
2.6.23.1-42.fc8).

Cleanest way to upgrade F7 to F9 (when the time comes)

What is the cleanest way to upgrade from version to version (e.g., F7 to
F9 (when it arrives)?
I only have two users on the F7 system right now. All the old Windoze
data from several machines is on a separate disk, mounted and shared
with samba back out to one remaining Windoze desktop (I'm getting closer
to completely firing Bill Gates, but not quite there yet).
I plan to unmount the samba share, tar each user's home and put it on a
500 GB USB drive. No other data other than some config files in /boot
and /etc will be saved to the USB drive.
Will I run into any conflicts if I do a fresh install of F9, create the
user accounts and groups (keeping the same uid and gid), untar the home
folders, and pull back the key config files?
When I tar the home folders, should I preserve the selinux context?
