You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem
You could try running: package-cleanup --problems
package-cleanup --dupes
rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest
The program package-cleanup is found in the yum-utils package.

Audio CD problem solution tested and it works
by Aaron Konstam
In bugzilla # 513495
Aram Agajanian poses a solution for the Audio CD problem and it works.
First you get udev-141-4.fc11.src.rpm from the link below.
http://kojipkgs.fedoraproject.org/packages/udev/141/4.fc11/src/udev-141-4...
Get the spec file with rpm -i udev-141-4.fc11.src.rpm
Remove patch4 from the spec file by commenting it out.
Do a rpmbuild -bp then a rpmbuild -bb
Install the files created (not the devel files) udev, udev-static
libudev0 and libvolume_id
Reboot and the Audio CD icon is back.

Cron jobs running twice
by Casartello, Thomas
I have a weird issue on one of my Fedora 11 machines. All my cron jobs keep
running twice. (for example the stuff in cron.hourly will run twice every
hour.) Just upgraded this machine from Fedora 10 yesterday. There's only one
crond process running so I'm not sure why it's doing it. Here's the log:

Conf File Backup Idea
by Thomas Paine
I was wondering if anyone routinely backups their conf files? I am
trying to figure out a way to just backup any of the conf files I
regularly use so that I can rsync them to an offsite server somewhere.
I'm not looking to do a full server backup, as that isn't really my
intention. I'm looking at things like dhcpd.conf, httpd.conf, bind,
that sort of thing, so that I can quickly roll out a new server based
on the old one.
Where I am going with this, is that I am anticipating replacing some
hard drives in a server of mine with some larger ones. Also I almost
lost a whole server worth of stuff (it is very aged and nothing
mission critical) but that got me to thinking if I had a program or
some sort of a way to add files I've edited to a list that get rsynced
somewhere, that would be something I am very interested in.
Even if I just make a directory and make a symbolic link to it, would
that work? Expanding on this would let me backup a weeks worth of
versions in the event I don't like a change I made to one file.
Anyways, just looking for some ideas here on this.
Thanks.

conflicted file in update this morning?
by Alan Evans
Came to work this morning and updater icon told me that updates were
available on my F11 system. Pretty routine, I told it to go ahead and
do the update.
What wasn't routine was the subsequent error dialog complaining of
"Local file conflict between packages":

The 32 and 64 bit packages have coexisted on my system for a long
time. I don't even recall why I had the i586 package installed at all,
but if I were to hazard a guess, I'd say that VMWare probably required
the 32-bit libs.
Anyway, today I can't update. Can anything be done? Or should this get
bugzilla'd? And if so, against what?

F11: Skype and audio, again
by Colin Brace
Hi all,
Skype is driving me crazy under F11. Sometimes it works, other times not. At
the moment, sort of. Audio playback works, but I can't the mic working.
I've tried about all the combinations of Options/sound devices
According to the Pulse volume control, the mic is working; the sound level
jumps when I speak into it.
I've been looking at the earlier threads on Skype in this list. Someone
needed alsa-plugins-pulseaudio to get it to work. Already installed.
My box has a bog-standard audio device: Intel 82801G
In general, I've am having difficulty getting *reliable* audio under F11.
Suddenly audio stops with Flash. Or with Rhythmbox. My only recourse is to
reboot X. Yes, I've tried pulseuadio --start.
Any ideas anyone?
Thanks.

No. I'm not complaining. On the contrary, I'm happy with log files in
english. Otherwise I would have to translate them before seeking for
help on this list ;-)

PER5LIB
by Patrick Dupre
Hello,
It looks like that the variable PERL5LIB can be modified inside a
shell, but then the export (when calling gnome-terminal) reset the value
to this orginal value.
Is it the expect behavior ?

How to gut &%$#&#@ Firefox?
by Beartooth
They make it incredibly tedious to get rid of all their miserable
language-pack cruft -- and the minute you turn your back, they shove it
all in again.
Is there a way to prevent / disable that abominable practice?
Or has the time come to admit that the blasted browser is not
worth the trouble it takes?
Is there a reasonably similar one without this disgusting
practice? Seamonkey, maybe?

Fedora 11 very very slow on Athlon DAM 1500+, 1.3 GHz Machine
by Jwalant Natvarlal Soneji
Hi,
I tried running Fedora 11, with it being only operating system installed,
and it was too slow for everything.
The message boxes, applications, games, etc... everything.. took a great
time to load.
It was installed on Ext4 file system. Is my computer not capable of handling
that?
Right now, I run Fedora 10 and there is not any slow down issue.
Please suggest.
Thanks,
