ip address from range script
by Arthur Bela
TEST-A.txt: list of ip address ranges [AS/isp's in a country]
TEST-B.txt: list of ip addresses
I just need to know, if an ip in the TEST-B.txt is in a range of
TEST-A.txt
cat "TEST-A.txt"
63.31.63.0/24;9007;44536
64.65.0.0/19;9000;8263
62.64.14.0/21;9001;6852
cat "TEST-B.txt"
63.31.63.2
64.66.5.4
63.31.63.66
62.64.14.231
output:
63.31.63.0/24;9007;44536
63.31.63.2
63.31.63.66
62.64.14.0/21;9001;6852
62.64.14.231
-> so is an ip address [in TEST-B.txt] is from my country [TEST-A.txt]
or not?

SE Linux error in logwatch (sendmail)
by Christofer C. Bell
When cron.daily runs, I get the following error related to sendmail
and logwatch:
/etc/cron.daily/0logwatch:
Can't exec "sendmail": Permission denied at /usr/sbin/logwatch line
1032, <TESTFILE> line 2.
Can't execute sendmail -t: Permission denied
The SE Linux error is:
type=SELINUX_ERR msg=audit(1280304906.187:42655):
security_compute_sid: invalid context
system_u:system_r:logwatch_mail_t:s0-s0:c0.c1023 for
scontext=system_u:system_r:logwatch_t:s0-s0:c0.c1023
tcontext=system_u:object_r:sendmail_exec_t:s0 tclass=process
Here is the relevant section of /usr/sbin/logwatch:
#Use mailer = in logwatch.conf to set options. Default should
be "sendmail -t"
#In theory this should be able to handle many different
mailers. I might need to add
#some filter code on $Config{'mailer'} to make it more robust. -mgt
open(OUTFILE,"|$Config{'mailer'}") or die "Can't execute
$Config{'mailer'}: $!\n";
my $mailto = $Config{"mailto_$Config{'hostname'}"};
$mailto = $Config{'mailto'} unless $mailto;
for my $to (split(/ /, $mailto)) {
print OUTFILE "To: $to\n";
}
print OUTFILE "From: $Config{'mailfrom'}\n";
print OUTFILE "Subject: Logwatch for $Config{'hostname'}
(${OStitle})\n";
The open statement (right under the comments) is line 1032.
Is this something that a bug needs to be opened on or is there a
context change on a file I can run to correct this? I'm not able to
use the SE Linux Troubleshooter because it generates the following
error (a bug to submit):
"Error while checking policy version."
Thanks.

Installing F12 for PPC on Powerbook G4
by JD
DVD burned from iso image, and checksumed against
downloaded iso checksums (and computed checksums),
will not boot up so I can install F12.
I get a blank white screen after pressing enter at the
boot:
prompt.
Any one with experience on PPC with F12 or earlier?
What's the trick to booting it?

by Jürgen Dankoweit
Hello to the list,
after updating to the new kernel the graphics performance is incredible
slow. I think that the accelleration code in XOrg and kernel are not
compatible. This was the problem with the last kernel/XOrg combination.

I use empathy as IM to connect to gmail and msn (hotmail) accounts.
Use this laptop, I connect to both at work place, but at home(using
TPG adsl2+). I can't connect to the msn account. the settings are the
same. there is not many options for empathy to coonect to msn
server messenger.hotmail.com
port 1863
anywhere to look for fix.
by the way, at the home network, it's ok to connect to the same msn
account using pidgin.

Kernel source and headers for Fedora 13
by Patargias, George
Hi
The NVIDIA driver installer complains that it can't find the kernel source files and headers in Fedora 13.
Are they part of the standard distribution? If so, where are they? If they are not how can I install them?
Thanks.

system mail
by Petrus de Calguarium
When I receive system mail, I read it on the command line with the 'mail' program. It appears to be called Heirloom Mail version 12.4 7/29/08.
Now, as I scroll down, I see that the system mail is sent as:
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="ANSI_X3.4-1968"
However, my system is set up to use UTF-8. Why is this charset wrong, or not respecting my system setting? How can I get it corrected?

Anything for home user and not the technical one??
by Parshwa Murdia
I have installed fedora 11 with windows xp, though the PC is for home
use only. Like i have to use the documents editing, and the related
works. So i have two questions, but first of all, i am going to ask
only the first one in this thread:
For only home users, who want to use fedora (and have version 11, that
is, fedora 11) apart from the deep technological concepts which are
very well revealed here, what a user who has no programming base, can
start to go in fedora? like windows if GUI, so home persons can use it
widely because everything is GUI. Thoguh fedora also may be GUI
nowadays, but if someone want to start learning (for home purposes
only), where should he start from knowing that there is only one PC,
on which both - fedora as well as xp is installed. The main thing PC
is used is for watching movies, listening music, documents editing and
kids play.
but a home user can himself (with no more hardware) and with a single
pc (with net connection) can learn in this scenario as far as fedora
usage is concerned?

Parshwa Murdia

Fedora13 snapshot broken?
by Bill Davidsen
Before I put in a CZ entry, in GNOME is the screen shot program
broken? When I select "select the current window" it picks the whole
root window instead of the current window.
Running an Intel i9125 chipset in VESA mode (the Intel drivers don't
work), 1280x1024 (why would that matter?) and tested over multiple users
so it isn't in the desktop options.
