I suppose that if one uses the ESMTP option, one has to install esmtp and
configure it as needed.
as discribed in :
http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/opensource/send-mail-with-esmtp-for-a-si...
How do you tell sendmail to use esmtp as the email deliverer?
I dropped that line and used a authinfo file as described above and it
worked.
Probably is esmtp a simpler way to do it for different users and different
domains?

mount --move in F16
by Norman Gaywood
This sequence of commands once worked in F16 (in kernel 3.2.10-3)
mkdir -p /tmp/testing
cd /tmp/testing/
mkdir -p foo bar
mount -t tmpfs tmpfs foo/
mount --move foo bar/
Sometime around 3.3.0-4 and maybe before the last command above gives
this message:
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /tmp/testing/foo,
missing codepage or helper program, or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
dmesg | tail or so
This is still the case in 3.4.4-4.fc16, the mount --move does not work.
However, in F17 (3.4.4-5.fc17) the above sequence works fine.
Could someone hit me with a clue stick?

F17 cursor problem : request
by Beartooth
My antiquated eyeballs have lots of trouble finding the mouse
cursor, especially when it turns itself into a very thin line, as it
often does in Pan and in gnome-terminal.
The eyeballs on the panels help some, especially if I manage to
center them. But CentOS 6 has a better way. If I choose the oxygen theme,
I can get a big fat yellow arrow. (It also turns into a line sometimes,
but even then, it's much bigger, and still yellow.
Would somebody who knows how please make this available in
Fedora, or write a pons asinorum for it? When you get seriously old,
you'll be glad you did.

WHAT? Time has not changed you in the least! You're still as arrogant as

Fedora 18 and UEFI
by Kevin Wilson
Hi, everyone,
I have a question about UEFI in fedora 18: I see in lwn.net article:
"Fedora's strategy is to enroll in Microsoft's developer program,
which allows the project to purchase an approved $99 key through
Verisign, a key which will be recognized by UEFI secure boot. The key
will be used to sign the shim bootloader, which is a "trivial UEFI
first-stage bootloader" whose only job is to boot GRUB2. Fedora will
also sign the GRUB2 bootloader and the kernel, although the latter two
binaries can be signed with the Fedora project's own keys.
see
http://lwn.net/Articles/503803
That this means that from F18 on, fedora will cost 99$ for every installation?

at the risk of intruding here with a suggestion of another vendor
who will load fedora or any other linux:
http://www.netexpresslabs.com
I have used them in the past with great satisfaction,
both with the ordering process and follow up on any problems.
I am likely to use them in near future again to replace
my old p4 desktop.
they do business mainly via email, so you could easily get
a quote in short order.
more of their website:

are available preloaded with UNIX, UNIX clones....."

Our address is sales[at]netexpresslabs[dot]com.
...
We also offer assistance in selecting the best software and hardware
for each customer and their specific application.
Please feel free to ask for advice. We don’t expect our
customers to be aware of the very latest updates in hardware and software.
That’s our job."

I think everyone is entitled to their opinion, however I feel many
posters are angry because the OP has consistently insulted the community
starting from the very first post to this thread. Thinly veiled indirect
insults are still insults, and against list guidelines.
I witheld from posting to this thread so far, but your message
supporting(?) the OP seemed to deserve an explanation from my side why
even a passive reader might feel offended and bear some resentment
towards the OP.
Hope to help each other in a more productive thread,

Which OP? My post or the True original OP?
Here's original post
http://www.spinics.net/linux/fedora/fedora-users/msg419911.html
My post was to suggest that he had a right to post what he posted.
Other users don't agree.
The guidelines here:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mailing_list_guidelines
I don't know which one he violated, other than all CAPS word HOWEVER.
He appears to not insult the (Red Hat)community since he posted:
``I've been using Red Hat and then Fedora for a long time. The only
reason I've stuck with Fedora this long is that I am very grateful to
Red Hat for its contribution to the community. ''
I don't know if there is anything wrong here. I just see that some users are not appreciative of his words or that he is upset with Fedora Development, and he has his right of stating what he stated.
If it is me that needs to respond, please let me know and I will clarify my statements.
Suvayu,
I did not notice any insults in the first post. The others or responses, then have generated some back n 4th dialogue, and I also agree with your statement:
``Hope to help each other in a more productive thread,''

And don't let the door hit you on the way out
by Robert Myers
Hello, all,
I've been using Red Hat and then Fedora for a long time. The only
reason I've stuck with Fedora this long is that I am very grateful to
Red Hat for its contribution to the community.
HOWEVER. As time has passed, Fedora has become increasingly
demanding, idiosyncratic, and user-hostile. I can't keep up with the
tick-tock any more, and I'm tired of playing where's waldo so as to
figure out how to do the most obvious things, like how to bring up a
terminal or how to change the power settings with the latest release
of FC-infinity.
The precipitating event is actually caused by Windows, which will not
accommodate all 24Gb of RAM I have on one machine without my paying
blackmail (which I would have to pay over and over again), and Fedora
doesn't even aim at being a replacement for Windows.
Perhaps I will become just as dissatisified with Ubuntu as I have been
with everything else, but maybe I'll die or become senile first. My
impression of system professionals has not changed since I first
started using computers, which was long before anything resembling x86
was even a gleam in anyone's eye. All I can say is I hope y'all are
having fun, because your endless flights of fancy are nothing but a
pain for ordinary users. My dream is a bare-metal hypervisor that
actually works, so that I can actually switch between one
idiosyncratic system and another with the blink of an eye.
Fedora will stay on some machines for a while, but I think I can see
the last station on the line. I wish I could say it's been fun.
Robert Myers.
