gnome-shell favourites integration on fedora 25

Hi,
has anybody got the same problem? I added the LibreOffice-Writer icon to
gnome-shell favourites, but if I start the Writer it generates a new
icon looking like some icon for gnome-terminal. I already had this
problem a couple of years ago, as gnome-shell was still young.
Is this now a wayland issue? Otherwise, f25 is great, thanks!

find with regex to find files matching pattern
by bruce
Ok..
Maybe too much xmas glee...
Sample files
1.2.3.4_foo.dat
11.2.3.4_foo.dat
1.22.33.4_foo.dat
etc.....
the fillenames follow the ipAddress format..
Trying to craft a simple find with regex/pattern to find the files.
find / -name "*[0-9]{3}*" << doesn't work
thoughts/comments
thanks

Centos gateway server
by Wolfgang Paul Rauchholz
I am trying to setup a home server under Centos. I relegated my well
working iptables script to plan B. The server acts as a modem/router.
enp3s0 is the NIC for the internal private network. enp6s0/ ppp0 provide
WAN access. I assigned enp3s0 to internal zone and added services. pppoe
daemon is up and running and has an IP address assigned from the ISP. In
/etc/../ifcfg-ppp0 I set ETH=enp6s0. Question: do I need to assign both -
enp6s0 and ppp0 - to external zone? Thx for your help.

Screen doesn't blank with F25/MATE
by Chris Adams
I installed Fedora 25 with the MATE desktop on my Thinkpad Carbon X1
(4th gen). When I lock the desktop or the screensaver kicks in, the
display doesn't actually blank. Instead, it stays showing the last
thing. If I lock the screen or just wait for the screensaver to kick
in, it stays on the desktop. If I hit a key, it jumps to the screen
unlock display; if I then cancel unlocking, the lock screen stays on the
display.
If I had to guess, it is like the display is failing to switch off.
There are no errors logged anywhere that I can see.
Fedora 23/MATE worked fine, so this is new behavior.
This is with a Intel HD Graphics 520 display (if that matters).

Windows 10 KVM video freezes during boot
by Tom Horsley
Lately, a Windows 10 KVM I've been using since it was
Windows 7 originally (a long time for sure) has
started this annoying habit: About 20% of the time
I startup the virtual machine, it will pick a random
place during the boot and the video will stop
updating.
It apparently does something like finish booting, because
it eventually plays the windows startup sound, however
telling it to shut down via virt-manager doesn't work,
I have to do a "force off".
I'll then boot it again, and it will work perfectly.
Does this sound like anything anyone else has seen?
I've got it using QXL video inside the KVM and I
have nvidia binary drivers running the on the host
system. Fully up to date fedora 24 host, all windows
updates (as of a few days ago, anyway) applied inside
the KVM.
I've got a centos 6 KVM I use a lot more frequently
which has never had this problem.

Apache Authentication with System Accounts?
by Aero Maxx D
Hello Guys,
Is it possible to password protect folders/address with system account usernames and passwords?
I thought it would be a mod_auth_* package/module but I can't figure out just which one it is from the documentation.
Thanks,

how to disable dhcp on a fedora client?
by François Patte
Bonjour,
I want to set a static IP adress for a laptop on my local network. So I
wrote a file
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-wlp3s0
like this:
DEVICE=wlp3s0
HWADDR=c4:d9:87:a6:67:33
TYPE=Wireless
BOOTPROTO=none
ONBOOT=yes
USERCTL=yes
IPADDR=192.168.1.29
GATEWAY=192.168.1.1
NETMASK=255.255.255.0
MODE=Managed
ESSID=Meenakshi
DNS1=192.168.1.1
But it seems that, in fact, dhcp protocole is still in use as I can read
in the boot log:

How to change delete behavior in Thunar
by Paul Smith
Dear All,
Is it possible to configure Thunar so that a delete action corresponds
only to move the files to trash instead of deleting them permanently?
Thanks in advance,
Paul
