Any ideas on how to investigate?

f27 :: dracut-initqueue.service takes 2.1s on ssd
by Adrian Sevcenco
Hi! Does anybody know _exactly_ how dracut-initqueue search for "real
root" ? is there a method to help this service to find the root faster?
i looked over
/usr/lib/dracut/modules.d/98dracut-systemd/dracut-initqueue.sh
but it is not clear to me why it takes 2+ seconds on ssd (EFI) to find
root ...
i already have root=UID= in kernel command line ..
Thank you!

[OT] RedHat's new Podcast broken?
by Christopher
This is off topic, but I figured some (RedHat) people on this list might
have some insights.
I keep seeing RedHat's new "Command Line Heroes" podcast[1] advertised...
only thing is... the podcast feed doesn't seem to work in my podcast app
(BeyondPod). I can't download any episodes other than the first
introductory one, which is only a few minutes long.
I can download the mp3s in the browser, so it's not networking. And using
curl, I can see the RSS feed perfectly fine instead of the HTML shown in
the browser for the same URL.
Maybe there's a problem with the feed structure? I discovered that it fails
the W3C validator for RSS/Atom feeds[2], but I'm not sure if those failures
are important.

Restarting Anaconda
by Javier Perez
Hi.
How do I restart Anaconda GUI style?
It died while installing F27 on an old computer with a Pane is dead message.
The computer works (IBM DG31PR motherboard). It runs kind of hot sometimes,
but still serviceable.
I wonder what the command is to restart the anaconda installer from the
command line...
Thanks

So, for some reason, it is not able to shake hands with the hotspot wifi
router.
The machine has it's own built-in Broadcom wifi, which f27 has NO
drivers for, and NO firmware for :( :( :(
to wit:
lspci | grep -i wireless
0c:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Limited BCM4322 802.11a/b/g/n
Wireless LAN Controller (rev 01)
The links I ave received so far about this chipset have not provided
ready to install packages.
Almost every link I visited, requires builds and reboots.
I am loath to tainting this installation.
So, I am unable to
1. run updates
2. install the full MATE DT.
3. Install other rpms my friend needs.
Using the f27 gui to bring up the usb wifi (to connect with Starbucks
router)
keeps timing out.
On my own laptop, which uses the internal Intel WIFI 5100, I am not
getting the timeout.

Interaction between grubby and grub2-mkconfig
by Sam Varshavchik
I edited GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX in /etc/default/grub before I installed the most
recent kernel update. However the grub entry for the new kernel did not
reflect my changes in the updated /boot/grub2/grub.cfg
Digging into this, it appears that the kernel packages run the grubby tool
which appears to be responsible for updating grub.cfg, and it does that,
apparently (not 100% sure) by cloning existing kernel entries; and the
/etc/default/grub file comes from the grub2-tool package, and grubby doesn't
know anything about it.
If I run grub2-mkconfig, it generates something completely different from
the existing grub.cfg. I have not analyzed the differences, but using the
output of grub2-mkconfig seems risky; not sure if subsequent invocations of
grubby will deal with it.
Did anyone use grub2-mkconfig before, to generate a new grub.cfg, and then
subsequently installed kernels new without grubby causing any issues?

f26 systemd :: how to run tftp.service and disable tftp.socket

Hi! I need to have tftp run by service not by socket (at this moment
service requires and start the socket) but even with a proper (i hope)

this is the override

graphic host on cli server?
by mstuff@read.org.nz
Is it possible to run a graphic host on a server with no X?
I.'d like to run a few hosts like Slim Server/ LMS and Kodi, amongst others, on a headless cli server. Does such a thing make any sense at all? Obviously there'd be a "head" for Kodi, Slim Server etc, but not the server?
Thanks
