Bluetooth adapter not working on Fedora 32
by Paul Smith
Dear All,
I have just bought a bluetooth adapter (receiver and trasnmitter) to
work on Fedora 32.
I have switched the adapter to transmitter mode, and I have plugged it
into a USB entry of my computer. When I go to the XFCE bluetooth
manager, it says
"No bluetooth adapters found".
I did run meanwhile the following command (both as user and root), but
with no success:
systemctl enable bluetooth
systemctl start bluetooth
Moreover,

texlive-newtx math fonts cannot be used
by Enrique Artal
Dear members of the list,
I filed a bug (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1832320) about some problems using a specific package of tex, namely newtxmath.sty. I use it only in few documents, and I do not know if it is the case for most Fedora-LaTeX users. The bug is confirmed by other users. No pdf is obtained with the message:
"!pdfTeX error: pdflatex (file ntx-Regular-tlf-ot1r): Font ntx-Regular-tlf-ot1r
at 480 not found
==> Fatal error occurred, no output PDF file produced!"
There is a workaround proposed by anoterh user:
$ updmap -user --syncwithtrees
$ updmap -user
There is an issue, with tons of warnings about duplicate fonts, which is annoying. Since I do not use this package all the time I found as solution to pass the orders above, compile the document, and then delete the folder .texlive2019.
I wonder if someone has a better solution. Thanks, Enrique.

Re: Nautilus Using 100 CPU

I'm assuming the direct reply was an accident.

The percentage is relative to one core. A multi-threaded application
can use up to 100% * the number of cores you have.

Nothing odd there.

You haven't installed the Python extension support and that's fine.
As someone else suggested, check the journal to see if there are any
messages referring to Nautilus. Also, try running "nautilus" in a
terminal window to see if there are any messages there.

some newbie hardware feedback
by David
For newbies pondering a build of a new computer with Ryzen platform.
( to run Fedora, of course, or at least an rpm-based Linux distro )
If not interested, please hit delete button now.
If you want more details than what is below, then please message me
privately,
meaning please do not respond unless there is something positive you can
add to the topic,
that would interest the general audience, or to correct any errors in the
post.
Regarding temperatures of hardware using two budget components:
Ryzen 3 and Radeon 5500XT.
The link below is a readout from the package "glances."
https://www.dropbox.com/s/fctqi9za6nbsjm1/Photo%20Oct%2007%2C%205%2043%20...
This is with more applications running simultaneously than I would ever use
in the real world
( Torcs, SuperTuxCart, Firefox, Gmail, Youtube, glances, CPU-X, OBS-Studio,
etc )
My computer case is enormous and with lots of premium fans: two 120mm's on
the front
and exhaust fans on the rear top, and a rear exhaust fan, and a giant
Noctua air-cooler with two fans.
graphics card: a refurbished PowerColor 5500XT ( is at 40 degrees C
according to CPU-X )
cpu: Ryzen 3 1200AF ( is at 35 C according to CPU-X )
OS: Fedora Rawhide with Gnome 3.38.1 ( kernel 5.9.0.rc8 )
Room temperature: 22.78 C
I have no idea what I am doing, so please do not shoot the messenger.
Summary:
I am attempting to suggest, that if you are a newbie exploring Fedora and
only do basic
computing stuff, to build a Ryzen computer with case that has a mesh intake
front and a good
exhaust fan. Maybe that is common sense, but lots of cases on the
market have a front
glass panel that blocks a whole lot of the intake and changing the
dust-filter is squirrely on some
older cases.
Conclusion: If you build a new computer with the new 12 nm Ryzen 3, and
use a good air-cooler, and a case
with good air-flow, then you will be able to do basic computer task, with
no temperature problems.
In addition:
If you carefully build your computer with optimum parts, you will likely
experience similar temperature results using the new 12 nm Ryzen 5 ( 1600AF
). I would be
making assumption that the cpu load temperature would be around 4 degrees
higher. I would
have bought that instead, had it been available on sale at the time I
bought my Ryzen 3 1200AF.

Firefox stability?
by Max Pyziur
Greetings,
Lately, I've noticed that different tabs that I have open in Firefox are
crashing. This seems to have started recently. They can be restored
easily, but there's a nuisance factor here.
Anyone else?
Hardware/Software basic deets:
Dell XPS 13 L322X laptop, vintage circa 2013.
1TB Samsung Solid state drive
8GB RAM
F32 - everything has been updated

Any reason you picked tpm over the others?
I'll give this a shot.

My system log is filled with dozens of this line:
localhost.localdomain rngd[638]: Entropy Generation is slow, consider
tuning/adding sources
Is this something to be concerned about?
