F35 - audio a bit mixed up
by John Horne
Hello,
I carried out an online upgrade of my laptop a couple of days ago from F34 to
F35. No problems with that, and all seemed to be okay. However, today I noticed
that audio was not working, or partially working for some things (Zoom audio in
particular seemed to fail completely).
I noticed the previous list messages about swapping pulseaudio for pipewire,
but this seemed to make no difference. I have tried changing settings, but no
joy. So could someone who has audio working okay under F35 run some command-
line checks for me please:
1) run: rpm -qa | grep -iE 'pulse|pipe'
(so I can see that I have the right packages installed)
2) (as the logged in user) run: ps auxww | grep -iE 'pulse|pipe'
(so I can see that I have the right processes running)
3) run: systemctl list-units --type=service --user | grep -iE 'pulse|pipe'
(so I can see that the correct services are running)
Thanks,
John.

OT: Cannot cut/past from Fedore 35 host to VMware Fedora guest
by Sbob
Hi all;
I know this is off topic. I have installed Fedore 35 on a Levovo P73,
it's running great!
I installed VMware Workstation Pro 16, and it worked with no
adjustments, but I cannot copy / paste between the Fedora 35 host and a
Fedora 35 guest
Thanks in advance for any suggestions

Will an additional announcement be going out once this change has been
applied, so we know when to update our nicks?

Possible to uninstall wayland on Fedora 34? google is failing me....
by Go Canes
I thought I had seen information on how to uninstall wayland from
Fedora 34 - not just switch between xorg and wayland, but actually
remove the packages. But my google searches are coming up empty.
Is there a way to remove the wayland packages? I don't expect to be
attempting to live in a wayland world until Fedora 35 (if then). I
know I could leave the packages in-place and ignore them, but my
preference is to remove them.
FWIW, KDE Plasma on Fedora 34.

Apache umask
by Emmett Culley
For some time I've been trying to get apache to enable group write when creating a directory. I've tried every method I found by searching the internet:
1) Add umask.conf to /etc/systemd/system/httpd.service.d containing:
[Service]
UMask=002
This did make is so that files created by apache had group write permissions, but not directories.
2) echo "umask 002" >> /etc/sysconfig/httpd
Nothing works that I have tried. Directories written by apache always have drwdr-sdr-x permissions.
What am I missing?

last BT update buggy with my Logitech MX Master 3
by Frederic Muller
Hi!
A few days ago (maybe 5?) bluetooth got updated on F35 and since then my
Logitech mouse doesn't work right out of the boot...meaning:
1. I start the machine, the BT interface tells me the mouse is
connected, but neither the pointer nor the buttons work
2. I need to systematically disconnect + reconnect OR remove the device
and add it back to make it work.
Other BT devices I use (a Logitech keyboard and a speaker) work normally.
I haven't file a bug yet but was wondering if anyone else had the issue
and eventually some advice on the proper course of action from there.
Thank you.

Recommendations for python libs installs for my user
by Frederic Muller
Hi!
I did post about some issues with my libraries (and it seems, the way I
install them) with F34.
So, I have a brand new "untouched" F35 under my fingers and configuring
things for myself. Only me uses that machine. There is only 1 user.
Now I use Python for some development and.. for myself. A few libraries
are not part of the Python packages included in Fedora and I was
wondering how to install them. I used to do pip3 install --user
python-lib but ended up with some issues. Not sure if I can use a
virtual environment and set it up as default for my logged in user.
What do you guys recommend? I'm ready to try! :-P
Thank you.

[Fedora 36] Call for Test Days
by Sumantro Mukherjee
Hi Fedora users, developers, and friends!
It's time to start thinking about Test Days for Fedora 36.
For anyone who isn't aware, a Test Day is an event usually focused
around IRC for interaction and a Wiki page for instructions and results,
with the aim being to get a bunch of interested users and developers
together to test a specific feature or area of the distribution. You can
run a Test Day on just about anything for which it would be useful to do
some fairly focused testing in 'real time' with a group of testers; it
doesn't have to be code, for instance, we often run Test Days for
l10n/i18n topics. For more information on Test Days, see
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/QA/Test_Days .
Anyone who wants to can host their own Test Day, or you can request that
the QA group helps you out with organization or any combination of the
two. To propose a Test Day, just file a ticket in fedora-qa pagure - here's
an example https://pagure.io/fedora-qa/issue/624 . For
instructions on hosting a Test Day, see
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/QA/SOP_Test_Day_management .
You can see the schedule at https://pagure.io/fedora-qa/issues?tags=test+days .
There are many slots open right now. Consider the development
schedule, though, in deciding when you want to run your Test Day - for
some topics you may want to avoid
the time before the Beta release or the time after the feature freeze
or the Final Freeze.
We normally aim to schedule Test Days on Thursdays; however, if you want
to run a series of related Test Days, it's often a good idea to do
something like Tuesday / Wednesday / Thursday of the same week (this is
how we usually run the X Test Week, for instance). If all the Thursday
slots fill up but more people want to run Test Days, we will open up
Tuesday slots as overflows. And finally, if you really want to run a
Test Day in a specific time frame due to the development schedule, but
the Thursday slot for that week is full, we can add a slot on another
day. We're flexible! Just put in your ticket the date or time frame you'd
like, and we'll figure it out from there.
If you don't want to run your own Test Day, but you are willing to
help with another, feel free to join one or more of already accepted
Test Days:
GNOME Test Day*
i18n Test Day*
Kernel Test Week(s)*
Upgrade Test Day*
IoT Test Week*
Cloud Test Day*
Fedora CoreOS Test Week*
And don't be afraid, there are a lot of more slots available for your
own Test Day!
[*] These are the test days we run generally to make sure everything
is working fine, the dates get announced as we move into the release
cycle.
If you have any questions about the Test Day process, please don't
hesitate to contact me or any member of the Fedora QA team on test at
lists.fedoraproject.org or in #fedora-qa on IRC. Thanks!
