That doesn't make sense. The BIOS setting should disconnect the
touchpad regardless of the OS.
If you're using Gnome, in the control panel you can disable the
touchpad. I don't know if the other DEs have that option. If you're
using Xorg and not Wayland, you can disable it using xinput. Run
"xinput" to get a list of devices, then run "xinput --disable
<number>"
where <number> is the id number it showed in the list.
