firefox is working fine, web mail is all i can use
Can you please check you connection-settings in Firefox?
If there is 'direct Connection' checked the internet should also work
from other programms like ping.
If you are using a proxy to connect to the internet from a local network
it is absolute consequentially that you don't have a direct connection
to access a imap-server for example.
Otherwise please check you general internet settings.
'system-config-network'. Maybe there is no DNS-Server, so that you only
can reach websites whichs IP-Adress is cached.
Did you try to ping an IP-Address directly?

Do not write to this address directly. Mails which are not sent to a
list will be dropped automatically.
