It's up to you. Both methods make a copy. Thats whats important.
ddrescue will take longer and needs more space than just pulling out files with btrfs
restore. But if you're already familiar with ddrescue, that's an advantage.
Going with ddrescue then.
I will try the fix after the backup has been created.
