that should be something like
chkconfig --del cups
use
chkconfig --list
to see what you have running in your runlevel (usually 5)

Thank you! I man'ed the command, and as I understand it, cups will not
restart when I restart the machine? I just think that it is a little
redundant to restart the machine now, rather than to simply ask...
Also, what other services can be safely disabled, before I man them all.
