I guess this is a hang over from yum days. The problem I assume is
how to update to the latest packages?
With yum the yum clean all is required to get the latest meta data
for the yum update.
Today you can use dnf update —refresh to get the latest meta data for
your update.
Not really. I never do "update --refresh". In the default install for
Fedora, DNF itself periodically refreshes the cache:
$ systemctl |grep dnf
dnf-makecache.timer
