Most consumer level printers cost less than a supply refill. But then
you have to remember that the initial supplies are usually only good for
a few pages. It's a very strange market...
True for inkjets but I thought we were talking about lasers. My printer
cost around £100 3 years ago and toner replacements cost me well under
10% of that. Inkjets are (no offence) a mug's game and work on the
Gillette principle of cheap razors with expensive blades. If you really
need colour then too bad, but the number of times I actually do need
colour printing are surprisingly few and there's always the local print
shop. In those 3 years I haven't used it once.
