VIA on-board sound

[Richmond Pabilona]

Hi guys,
I just installed Fedora on my pc, it detected my VIA on-board sound card 
but when i test to play some music, there are no sounds coming out. 
please help me with this problem.

If you apt & synaptic search for alsa from the search menu and install
kernel modules and the related alsa modules.

Once you are done with that just run alsaconfig and you should be all
set.

fedora.us or as an alternate yarrow.freshrpms.net have ALSA RPMs for
FC1, both kernel modules and userland tools.

- install kernel source (exemple for 2.4.22_1.2166.nptl.i386)

- download

What is the reason for rebuilding the alsa-driver package?

The recommendation is flawed anyway, because kernel modules for i386
architecture are built.

Alain,

the alsa-driver package is NOT specific for any kernel, like any other
userland tools! Only the ALSA kernel modules must fit the Fedora kernel.

Hello

I have a via Sound-Card under Fedora and it works.

I had done like this :

Downloaded sources from alsa 

compile all source packages with
./configure
make 
make install

in utils package you have little applications to work with alsa

then set with kmix or gnome-volume-control the sound - level
