This should be an easy one. I want to install an RPM for Mozilla to update it. If I try I get a message that it conflicts with the current version. Is there a command which overwrites the current version using RPM's?

Have you tried upgrading (-U) instead of installing? I'd reccommend that instead.

rpm -ivh file.rpm This is to install an RPM..
rpm -Uvh file.rpm This will upgrade and RPM..
rpm -Fvh file.rpm This will freshen the installed RPM with a newer one if availible..
Take note of the case of the options..
You are probably needing -Uvh.. using -Fvh is used when you have a directory of RPM's and only want to install the newer versions of already installed RPM's..
later..

Mozilla consists of several rpms. Attempting to install just one when there are several others depending on the one you are replacing is troublesome.
See what mozilla rpms you have installed : rpm -qa |grep moz
My Redhat 9 box shows : rpm -qa |grep moz mozilla-nss-1.5-1 mozilla-chat-1.5-1 mozilla-js-debugger-1.5-1 mozilla-nspr-devel-1.5-1 mozilla-devel-1.5-1 mozilla-nspr-1.5-1 mozilla-mail-1.5-1 mozilla-nss-devel-1.5-1 mozilla-dom-inspector-1.5-1 mozilla-1.5-1 mozilla-debuginfo-1.5-1
Get all the rpm packages (Updated ones) that is listed by rpm -qa |grep moz .
Run 'rpm -Fvh *.rpm' in the directory you downloaded the updated rpms to.
Hopefully this will result in updated mozilla
Cheers, Michael

I would suggest you stop causing yourself so much pain and use up2date, yum, or apt-rpm. With all of these tools out there why make use of them.

I already do - from my yum.conf : [Mozilla_Yum] name=Mozilla Yum Repo baseurl=http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/mozilla/yum/SeaMonkey/releases/1.5/re...
However, I don't think there is a yum repo setup for Fedora at mozilla.org. If the original poster needs to install a package that is not available via yum, apt or up2date, the method I sugested will always work. Cheers, Michael
You need to upgrade the package Do a man rpm to get the various switches ;) Rpm -Uvh <package name> Cheers
