hey, weird question, ever since i changed my dsdt to get my sound working, my battery status doesn't show in the notification bar, but acpi is working, any ideas?
BTW: I'm running a Toshiba P105-S6197

Do you see the battery in /proc/acpi/battery/<something>/<battery files>? If not, your dsdt probably broke the battery code when it fixed the sound.

when i type in acpi -V in a console, it shows the battery life remaining, used, time, etc and also whether or not the cord is plugged in. That's why I'm so stumped.
So, yes it does show it. (Sorry, kind of skirted around the answer)

I get this problem whenever my battery gets completely discharged. I usually don't let that happen but at times I forget I'm not plugged in. After this, the battery applet never shows that there is no battery present. In gkrellm the battery display doesn't come up at all. /proc/acpi/battery too contains nothing. I fix this problem by removing and re-inserting the battery.
