I am runnning Fedora FC6; most everything is working, including the mounting of sata drives at boot time. BUT There are no icons on the desktop representing the mounted files
If there is a cd in the cdrom drive when the system is booted, the cdrom drive shows up on the desktop; How do I make the same thing happen with the partitions on my sata drive?? (they do all mount sucesfully at boot time)

Normally mounted partitions don't show up with icons, they're mapped onto the directory tree. I seem to recall that if you added a removable parameter to their fstab entry, they'll behave more like what you want. Though it's been so long since I tried that, that I can't remember the trick.
Alternatively, you can make a shortcut on the desktop to their mount point within the tree.

I think that if you add the user or users option to the ftab entry, it will get a desktop icon, because the user can mount/unmount it. (It may only get an icon with the user option if it is unmounted, or if the logged in user has mounted it, I don't remember...)

I believe this can be done with KDE....what desktop env. do you use?
