Hello, I have FC6 on x86_64. I have open office on it. (openoffice.org-writer-2.0.4-5.5.10) When I try to print a document, the print button is disabled. To be precise: I go to file->print, in general tab I see my printer, but on the bottom right, the print button is disabled (grayed). Any ideas why? Regards, Mark

Do you have a printer defined in CUPS? Have you set it up in the printer preferences in OpenOffice Writer?

Is there a PPD set for that printer? There is a bug in the GTK+ print dialog that prevents you from printing to raw printers.

Tim, Thanks!
Is there a PPD set for that printer?
Where should be such PPD ? I am using HP1010 LaserJet.
And I configured it via cups web interface. Where should I look for this PPD and what should I do in case it is missing ? Regars, Mark

What does 'Make and Model' say for that printer in the CUPS web interface? If it says something like "Local Raw Printer" then try changing it to Postscript (Generic postscript printer).

Tim, It said: HP LaserJet 1010 Foomatic/hpijs (recommended) I tried to change it to Postscript (Generic Postscript Printer). Still did not work. The print button from OpenOffice is grayed.
I simply cannot believe such is the case.
Does that mean the OpenOffice users in Fedora Core 6 on x86_64 cannot print ?
It hard for me to believe this is so.
Regards, Mark

It certainly can print on x86_64 -- I use it myself on x86_64 and it prints fine.
Perhaps there is some other bug in the GTK+ print dialog that is not to do with raw printing. When the 'Print' button is not clickable it generally seems to mean that the PPD for the printer could not be fetched.
What does 'rpm -q gtk2' say? Did you apply the updates? The latest version is gtk2-2.10.8-1.fc6.

That's what I was trying to find out when I asked about raw queues -- that bug report is closed as a duplicate of "Print dialog can't print to raw queues"...

Tim, 1) After looking in : https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=213119 I tried : Going to: Tools->Options->General Open/Save dialogs put a check mark on "Use OpenOffice.org dialogs" - did the job. Prinitng is ok now.
2) rpm -q gtk2 returns: gtk2-2.10.4-10.fc6
