No, i didn't try 'fsck' yet. I can only do that in the evening when i
reach home where my system is. I was only concerned that the command
'grub-install' was not working when i tried and fsck will probably only
report the integrety of partitions. After running 'fsck', how'd i proceed
further?
Best Regards,
Vikas

Subject: Re: My Linux partitions are lost.
Uttered Vikas.Bhasin(a)britishairways.com, spake thus:
I've tried to reinstall GRUB but couldnt' do so. I booted
from FC1 CD in
rescue mode, but it could not find any linux partitions on my machine
and
just gives me a shell prompt.
Did you try the fsck's I suggested?
