Yes, you need tho have the secret/private key to generate a revocation
key. The passphrase will be verified.
I do not have the key, nor a revocation cert.
Even though I remember the passphrase, it looks like it won't do any good
without the private key.
Right. Loosing the passphrase and/or the secret key you can not revoke
the key on the public servers.
