On Fedora 17/18/19/20
System-Config-Date: comm. "system-config-date"
[1] "Date and Time"
- "Synchronize date and time over the network" eq. comms. [off]/on: systemctl [stop]/start chronyd systemctl [disable]/enable chronyd
yum info chrony
event. systemctl mask ntpd[ate].service
- "Advanced Options"
-- "Speed up initial synchronization" conf. files [off]/on: /etc/chrony.conf server <NTPSERVER> []/iburst … /etc/sysconfig/network []/NTPSERVERARGS=iburst
-- "Use Local Time Source" conf. file [off]/on: /etc/chrony.conf [#]local stratum 10
[2] "Time Zone"
- Selected city: Helsinki, Europe eq. comm.: ln -fs /usr/share/zoneinfo/Europe/Helsinki /etc/localtime
- "System clock uses UTC" conf. file [off]/on: /etc/adjtime [LOCAL]/UTC
On Fedora 18 & up
Besides the above mentioned plus "timedatectl" as a CLI counterpart to a "system-config-date". Although, it lacks the 'iburst' directive and "timedatectl set-ntp" is broken in Fedora 18 - systemd 201. $ timedatectl set-ntp false/true Failed to issue method call: No such file or directory
Though, it working well in Fedora 19/20 - systemd 204. Anyhow, man 1 timedatectl & Co. ;)
Before filing a bug contra "timedatectl, has anyone encountered this bug, also?

Maybe it is a simple case of "not yet implemented" in F18?
[egreshko@meimei ~]$ timedatectl Local time: Mon 2013-05-27 15:40:31 CST Universal time: Mon 2013-05-27 07:40:31 UTC RTC time: Mon 2013-05-27 07:39:55 Timezone: Asia/Taipei (CST, +0800) NTP enabled: n/a NTP synchronized: yes RTC in local TZ: no DST active: n/a
NTP enabled: n/a ???

The NTP packages are not installed by default, using the chrony set instead (for a lighter weight implementation?) and the timedatectl stuff wants the "ntp*" commands explicitly.

Please report a bug. Components included by default need to work well with each other

Well, FWIW, in F19 the command "timedatectl set-ntp false/true" will disable/enable chronyd.
