I was wondering if anyone one knows if Alsa rpms are coming for 1.0.10? I am still using kernel 2.6.13 because the 1.0.9 packages are incompatible with 2.6.14 kernel for playing DVDs and such (sound in use by another device or such error).

If you are in a hurry and would like to test the builds for the rest of us go to the FC download server and get the rpms from the development directory.

Work around bugs with packages from 3rd party repos is imho not the correct way for such a problem in the long term -- fixing it probably imho is the way to go.
So spmirowski, if you have real problems regarding alsa and dvd playing with kernel 2.6.14 you should file a detailed bug-report in red hats bugzilla against kernel and/or alsa -- maybe then we'll get a update of alsa and the bug is fixed for everyone.

But you will admit that the report will be far more helpful, if spmirowski has tested it with alsa 1.0.10 rpms from ATrpms and will be able to make a statement whether an alsa upgrade will help at all, or not?
Also the user will be able to use his hardware until the upstream changes take place either in vanilla kernel or the Fedora Core kernel.
Thanks Alex, U do exude confidence,
Yes, I tried alsa-1.0.10 for surround 5.1 system to work. I was in the process of filing the report butsuffered FC4 crash (suspect other reasons) Not yet fully recovered.
Surround 5.1 did work but channels are going here, there, and nowhere. Have to make a full and accurate report on alsa-1.0.10, meanwhile waiting for help on other posts from this list.
