I recently tried installing the F8 XFCE spin on my PII/366 128MB/4.5GB laptop to see if I could get it to limp along a little longer before junking it and ran into a few problems.
The first time it booted to the log-in screen (GDM I presume) and when I click on the Fedora use it put the name in the username field and would go no further. It also had a line saying something about auto-logging in in "-2" seconds. I rebooted it and let it come up on it's own and I got to the desktop. I double clicked the Install icon and it worked on that for a before eventually giving up.
Is there a way to install this without going into the full desktop? I assume that I ran out of memory even though I have a 500MB swap file already partitioned on the disk.
I googled and didn't see a XFCE spin specific mailing list so I'm hoping someone here can help.
Thanks, Richard

You can try booting into runlevel 3 and running
# liveinst
http://docs.fedoraproject.org/release-notes/f8/en_US/sn-Live.html#sn-text-mo.... I personally haven't done any installations on 128 MB RAM and I am not sure it would work.

I ran into the same problems on my old Thinkpad 600. I'll try your information as soon as I'll get it back.
Thanks, Niels

Worked for me! I still got a message "FATAL: module md not available" or something like that but it still worked fine.
