Hi, I have to compile qemu 0.8 RPM on a fedora core 4 box. FC4 comes with gcc4 but qemu wont compile with it.
How should I do to get temporarily a gcc 3.3.6 just to compile it then get back to my gcc 4?
I lost my FC4/FC3 CDs, would you know a (FTP if possibe) repository where I could find a gcc 3.3.6 rpm?

You'd be better served asking the qemu maintainter in Fedora Extras for a package update.
http://bugzilla.redhat.com, against Fedora Extras/qemu

Hi,
GCC 3.3.6 is nowhere to be found in the Fedora community; other than my site. Even then, my RPMs are for FC1 and probably will cause problems on FC4/3 environments.
The best approach would be to contact the gemu rpm builders and see if they have a version that will compile/run with gcc 4 or the binary RPMs for Fedora Core 3/4 releases.
Good Luck, James Kosin

There's gcc-3.2.3 available as: compat-gcc-32 compat-gcc-32-c++

There are a plethora of fedora mirrors out there: http://fedora.redhat.com/Download/mirrors.html

Google is your friend.
http://rpmfind.net/linux/RPM/suse/9.1/i386/suse/i586/gcc-3.3.3-41.i586.html
may be close enough.

You could download the old rpm and install it in a secondary directory and compile static binaries.
From man rpm;
--relocate OLDPATH=NEWPATH For relocatable binary packages, translate all file paths that start with OLDPATH in the package relocation hint(s) to NEWPATH. This option can be used repeatedly if several OLDPATH’s in the package are to be relocated.
