Who is writing in the disks?

Hi,

The iostat is showing that some one is writing in disks sda and sdb but it
should not happen as almost all the requests from the system should be
queries and not updates.

Is there a way to discover who are the PIDs that are currently writing in
the sda and sdb disks?

You may be seeing access time updates depending
on what sort of disk READING activity.  Take a look at the "noatime" option for
mount.  (man 8 mount).

lsof                 (8)  - list open files
fuser                (1)  - identify processes using files or sockets
