Did you know IIT Kanpur is official fedora mirror?

Hi,

I was taken by surprise to know that IIT Kanpur, is hosting an
official Fedora mirror. That is very nice of them and will help the
user community to a great extend.

So, right now, we have 3 official mirrors in India and probably in a
day or two another will be added.

IIT Chennai, Kanpur and NIT? What is the next one to be added? I am sure
organizations that are deploying Fedora a lot in India could sponsor a
mirror as a way of providing back.

Elaborate please. I am interested in knowing the process by which a
mirror can receive the benefit from some sponsor. Are they supposed to
contact each other directly?

The simplest way is for the organization to setup a mirror itself and
essentially donate the bandwidth. Others like OSL accept donations from
member organizations although they are not in India.

... I installed the yum-fastestmirror plugin and saw the IITK mirror as one of 
those cached as the fastest one for the fedora and updates repos.

Try the plugin, if you haven't done so already.
